This is ominous. I can't find it.

Does this mean that Battlefields! is kaput. I sure hope not.

No we had to change the name (the current one is preliminary too) because of some legal issues.

I think the current name is actually better if that means squat to anyone.

Battlefields, as a name, is sufficiently bland, as to be just plain bland if you wish to know.

The fact that someone might have already gotten to it first is hardly surprising eh.

Well, the new name is not the final name, so don't get too attached to it.

It is also already taken so we're working on a final name change for this week. Any suggestions, feel free to chime in.

Regards,

- Erik

A name like that assume that you play as the allies. Why not War in Europe : The struggle against the allies?
I did not like the name War in the Pacific: The struggle against Japan either. To much moral and propaganda in the name. It clearly label one side as evil.

If a game is playable as both sides please stay away from such names. This applies to any conflict simulated, not only WW2. Think about this ACW: the struggle against the union. Would never happen.

How about

Overlord: Assault on Festung Europa

That's what it was of course. Doesn't matter which side you play, it was about the Overloard invasion.

Of course if this is to be a line of games, we will need a higher up name, they are all linked through.

How about

Operational Battles

It at least doesn't make a person wonder what manner of game is being simulated.

Thus, in full

Operational Battles
Overlord : Assault on Festung Europa.

ravinhood, and others, are you sure you haven't confused ex-Battlefields with some other Matrix game? Perhaps with Battles in Normandy?

ex-Battlefields is not dealing specifically with Normandy battles, in fact I think there is only one Normandy-related scenario among dozen or so scenarios planned for final version (I'd have to check to be sure about that, sure Marc or Erik will give you a full list with no problems). ex-Battlefields scenarios are very diverse and many are dealing with relatively obscure theatres of WW2 (Finno-Russian wars, Nomonhan, Okinawa, and lotsa East Front scenarios, these of course not being so obscure, but there are some relatively obscure EF battles there as well).

Hmmm... several of us have been guilty of that ? It's not confusion with BiN, I think it's just that one set of screenies that went up a while ago all seemed to be of Normandy ?

Overlord: Assault on Festung Europa

Pity.. I really like that as a game title Nice one, Hexed.

Well perhaps that particular set of screens was from some Normandy scenario, but ex-Battlefields (Game Formerly Known As Battlefields ) is NOT the "Normandy game".

It's a "game system" akin to TOAW in some aspects (though not very similar really), and initial release should come with many very diverse WW2 scenarios (and with scenario editor too).

O.

Duhh colour me stupid hehe, completely blew this one hehe, yeah I had BiN on the brain.

Oh well, I guess the first part is still good.

I am sticking with Operational Battles.

Might sound kinda bland, but then it says what the game needs saying.
I often see commercials so caught up in being clever, you never actually get to figure out what was being sold :)

I love those. I always wanted to write a column for local magazine(s) where I'd be spittin' all over blatantly stupid, and "too clever" commercials. I guess it won't be that easy since they all get money from advertisers
