Just wondering what other "Non-Wargames", you guys play. I am just curious. when i am not playing WitP! I am playing Neverwinters Nights. Don't know why I like that game, I guess its something about killing Dragons. It's completely out of character for me.

I like to play Chessmaster. Use to play Superpowers. Decided to put it down until Superpowers 2 comes out this fall. If you've never played I would highly recomend this game.

I can also play a mean game of solitare at work

I grew up in a rural environment where the primary pastimes were card games and drinking beer.

From about age three, I played games called "euchre," "pepper," "pinochle," and others that were created (and modified) to give farmers and other simple folk a vehicle for social interaction and just plain fun. The idea was to keep things simple (throw out half the deck, for example, and play to about 10 points or so) and fast-paced. One of the great realizations I came to was that the limited number of cards helped farmers who had lost fingers in farm implement accidents hold the hands they were dealt.

Not having to count farther than five or six helped them stay involved, too, particularly after consuming several Falstaff, Schlitz, or Hamms.

Those were the days ... pool was good, too, but frequently beyond the capabilities of the locals. You've never seen anything until you've seen a guy with one thumb and no fingers try to form a bridge for his pool cue.

I play a lot of different games. It depends whether I am playing solo or against others.

Apart from WitP/UV the only game I PBEM is Age of Wonders. But I play a lot with my old boardgaming friends by LAN. Thats often RTS games as each game only takes an hour or so. We also play longer games such as Space Empires IV, Civ 3, Imperialism II, HOMM 3 etc. Plus some shooters like Unreal tournament for the odd half hour.

I play a few boardgames of course. Dune, 1870, Pueto Rico, Slapshot, Cosmic Encounters, Titan, Settlers of Catan and Civilisation all played now and again.

For solo computer I like some of the old classic 3X games like Colonisation, MOM, MOO and Alpha Centauri. I don't normally play Shooters but at the moment I am trying to blast my way through Doom 3. My almost total lack of hand eye coordination and my tendency to panic when the screen flashes between red (my marines blood ) and black (the darkness) as I get mauled by a Pinky Demon means I doubt I shall get very far in it. It just depends on my mood and how much time I have to play.

I would think that would be hard to do.

I like Monopoly, because I am a blood-sucking capitalist at heart! :) Sadly, the computer AI for monopoly was not very good the last time I tried it. Maybe with a new version, I could play online.

I play Diablo 2 and Dungeion Siege rarely. I play City of Heroes sometimes.

But lately, I have scarcely played anything at all, at least for the last 3-4 weeks. Maybe when Matrix's new Normandy game comes out, I will get that. I like Korsun Pocket a lot (but again, I scarcely play it.)

Hmmm, besides Witp??? Let's see: Korsun Pocket/ATD, Farcry, Warlords Battlecry 3, Ground Control 2, Laser Squad Nemesis, Crusader Kings, Age of Wonders 2, Massive Assault, Squad Assault and Dominions 2. Obviously Witp, as i am primarily a wargamer, takes most of my time with Crusader Kings a close second. Being an old tabletop gamer i will be playing Warhammer40KDOW as well as BIN this Fall.

Non-war games... what are war games? I guess CM and Steel Panthers are war games. Here are some simulations, Role-play and FPS. Most of them have a military character

IL-2 FB/AEP, Lock-on, SpellForce, DTM-2, GT-4 Prologue, Joint Ops, Call of Duty, MoH series (playing Pacific Assault Demo right now on the Guadalcanal) BF series, Soldiers Heroes of WW2, Steel Beast 2 (Alpha version) and waiting for Rome Total War, Half-Life 2 (Day of Defeat mod), Full Spectrum Warrior, Call of Duty United offensive, IL-2 Pacific Fighters, and GT-4.

My free time goes for WitP 50%, CM series 30% and the rest is for the other games

Big mix in games here. I am suprised there are so many "Wargamers" playing a different mix of games. Nice.

I also played Superpowers but I thought the game was to buggy so I haven't played it for a long time - probably a bunch of patches out for it by now...

Currently I'm playing MechWarrior 4.. I've always liked the Mech Warrior system and the games are fairly fun... Sometimes just to hard, but lots of games are like that..

Command & Conquer Generals is a good game too, but the networking is too buggy and lags too much in multiplayer for any serious lan play...

Most of my solo play is WitP.... I'm an addict I think... The only way the game can get better is to include the rest of the world Not sure how many people would like that, but it would rock... especially multiplayer - dividing each major nation up between players... Have 3-4 players per side.. Would be a fun game..

You're right, there's patches out and even a build. Most of the orgianl bugs are gone. Overall it's a great game just don't like the whole training the AI thing. I hope that the complexity of this key feature is made easier with Superpowers 2. I've taken over the world paying as Argentina, South Africa, Mexico and even Indonesia

Will you switch too Everquest 2. Heard it was coming out fairly soon. Also what is the monthly on line cost for EQ? I am afraid they will want a monthly fee for Neverwinter 2(hope not). 75% of my time is sinking DD's(WitP) the other 25 is chasing Dragons.

Think it is 13.99 a month to play EQ. I doubt I move to EQ2. I am less and less interested in EQ. I only raid now.
