Well Gentlemen -

On October 6, my 21st birthday, I leave for Fort Benning, Georgia, for basic training and AIT. My MOS is 11XRay, infantry recruit. I'll go to jump school and maybe Ranger school. Hopefully I'll get in with the 101st or the 82nd Airborne.

I would like to thank this community for all the enthusiasm and support for these fine games. To the designers, thank you so much for taking Steel Panthers to levels that were previously never dreamed of. I look forward to more updates and developments of the series, and hope that the enthusiasm never ceases. Thank you for providing me with years of wargaming enjoyment. My future wargames, however, are for real and for keeps. Pray for me, and keep my Dad, Command Sergeant Major David Reeves, Sr., who deployed to Kabul in June with the 136th RTI to train the Afghan National Army, in your prayers as well. Also pray for my family, and for my older brother, Patrol Sergeant David Reeves Jr., who is extremely jealous of both me and my Dad.

I've got a few weeks left before I ship out, so if you want to email me, shoot one to dreeves1@gt.rr.com. I'll also have an AKO Webmail account (Army email) and I'll give that to you if you want it.

Well, like I said, thank you all for everything over the years, and hopefully I'll be back before long.

Thanks,

Matt Reeves

Good luck Matt. My son went through the same training, same place. He said you sure run a lot in the airborne. At least you're getting Benning in the Fall/Winter and not the humid summer.

HOOAH!

Hit the ground running.
Listen to your sergeants.
If you ever taste battle,
May you never smell fear.
And above all, watch your a$$!

That should keep your five senses busy. If your future squad leader is anything like what I was, then the rest of you will be gainfully employed.
Carry on, Soldier!

Best of luck! Make sure you take advantage of the GI Bill... It really helped me out when I got out and went to college!

Matt...A noble enterprise indeed...
If you get a choice, stand in the middle row in formation, not the rear,(they about face and the rear becomes the front!)..
If you ever pull KP(stateside),you will eat better than anybody else..
There is a reason for EVERY EVIL the Drill Sergeants put you thru, bear with it..
If you make it to the back of Ft Benning, please say hello to Darby Queen for me...
Lead the way....
