How is the map? Which version is used? Are some of the worst geographical errors in the original map corrected?

Yes, what is the map for the release version?

And what about the future maps upgrades? Yes, I know it is too soon to ask, but maybe you (Marshall) had commented something at cofee time with your team....

Thanks in advance!

What's "EIH v4.0 map"? Speak english for god's sake. Not your EIH lingo only a selected few can understand. Or better yet - let some of the betas post a screenshot - wouldn't hurt the sales of the game you know.

Yes I know you're hard at work finishing the game, yes I know you should be praised for letting us know what goes on, but I'll repeat what I already posted some times before - NOT everyone here played boardgame EIH, and not everyone here knows instinctively what is "GA", or how does the "map v4.0" look like. That's what the screenshots are for.

I want to love this game once it's released. I don't want to have to buy the boardgame this late into dev cycle just to be able to get what you boardgame EIH veterans talk about. Everytime I visit this board I get frustrated by being unable to understand 30% of what you people are saying. I'm afraid some players here will obsess over whether some obscure rule from boardgame rulebook has been implemented as they think it should be rather than with, say, how is the PBEM implemented or does the game support changing resolutions under Windows or some other (IMO) essential feature.

Sorry for being so bitchy... I do appreciate you being active on the board, really. I'd just love to be able to understand your posts.

O.

Too much coffee Oleg?

I do agree with you on one point. The screenshots that are rampant in the WaW forum have, IMHO, had a strong impact on interest in the game. They are one of the reasons Major Victory and I signed up as play balance testers.

Oleg:

Ouch! Apologies from me!

Small reference:

EiH refers to Empires in Harm which was an improvement done by Michael Treasure that basically turned into Empires in Arms Advanced!

EiA is Empires in Arms.

GA stands for Game Assistant, Game Administrator. This is the person in our PBEM games that is allowed to boot people out of the game, etc.

I've sadi this before BUT I've posted several snapshots of our map but it would be a bit complicated to post the entire map since it is in chunks and is over 4200 pixels by 3500 pixels in demensions and if we shrunk it then you might not be able to see enough detail to properly evaluate it!

Apologies again Oleg. Did not mean to sound encrypted!

Thank you

Light ships/Heavy Ships/Privateers and Fleet Boxes are all news to me as a lapsed EiA ADG version player.

Can someone give me a potted version of how naval rules work in EiH?

Or refer me to a copy?

And (highly subjective) are they worth the additional complication?

Thanks shipmates!

Naval in EiH has included the "advanced naval rules" (which I don't have a link to but it was posted arround the forum before) where you pick chits for battles and your fleet has a morale rating and there are few more admirals to choose.

It also introduces different ship classes with different movement rates and combat capabilities: Heavy (ship-of-the-line) the mainstay of your battle fllet, Light (frigate) which can also fight in battles but they suffer a penalty, Transports and Galleys. Transports have bigger troop carrying capacity, Light ships can evade blocades (with a die roll bonus) or serve in privateer boxes harrasing other major power's trade, Galleys are here so that even Ottoman can say he has a fleet

That is it in a nut shell. I think that CEiA will only introduce different classes but not the advanced naval combat system.

Not necessarily a different map, but would love to see a campaign starting around 1788-1792 that covered the French Revolution and partioning of Poland as a future expansion.

Hey all:

That is correct! We only are adding the ship types and an abbreviated version of the privateers!

Thank you

There is a 4.0 pdf version on the net somewhere for EIH. I just can't remember the url for now. As for the naval battles, yes they are quite different. Ships have their own moral and you fight in a 3 wave system, vs the single wave in EiA. Also besides using chit selection, and a different combat table, the port gun defenses also work using a watered down combat table as well. Naturally, the rules for interceptions and movement also have increased in complexity, there are Fleets, Squads, etc. Even I find it a little almost TOO complex at times.

One thing to take note of is there are also different tactical modifiers in EiH. If you have a certain ratio of ships higher than your opp,, then you will gain an extra point, or even 3 on the combat table. If you have 1.5 or more heavy ships than your opponent, you also get a +1 mod. On the other hand, if you only have light ships, you get a -1 mod. There are a few others but i'll cut it short for now.

There is a simulator I wrote in my spare time for calculating odds for EiA and EiA(Matrix Game Style) for naval combats. It calculates the odds depending on what situation is set up. I'll see about maybe releasing it when the game itself is due.

We shall see.

Hello Marshall, if this is the map, please, make some little misspellings in the spanish map.

Cuidad Rodrigo = Ciudad Rodrigo
Cueta = Ceuta

Thanks!
