OK, guys... please tell me if I'm crazy or stupid or both.

I sent two CV groups to the Coral Sea, one under Halsey and one under Spruance. I later ended up disbanding the two TF's into port at Lunga. About a week later I was ready to put them back to sea as one TF, but I could find neither admiral in my leadership pool! Is there some sortof availability rotation I don't know about? I mean, I ended up giving Fletcher the command for now, but I'd like my fav Admirals back again!

Also, I've got Towers running a group of CVLs and CVEs down as well, but I'm scared to disband the TF if I'm gonna lose him too! Help!

You probably lost them to some no name or a japanese pilot, it is a known bug. They "think" they have fixed it I believe. And you ca lose any assigned leader from any ship or task forces.

But to be sure, do you have any auto convoys going? Someone reported that the auto convoy system will take your good leaders and assign them to this task forces.

This is driving me nuts as it is playing havoc with the allied substandard doctrine. Every new sub co I put in command to hopefully initiate at least an attack once a month or so goes awol and gets replaced by a dunce. Sheeesh. Hopefully, given the extra time they are taking, they have not only fixed the leader bug but will modify the allied sub doctrine so that it resembles something.

Ok... so it IS a bug... sorry about being uninformed as far as that goes.

So when they disappear are they gone for the rest of the game?

Well, leaders did become unavailable for various reasons. But this is like Stalin's purges.

Unless the computer assigned them to resupply convoys no way to get them back.

Well then! It looks like it's Fletcher and Towers for the haul! I'm not gonna restart my game!

...maybe we'll go against the grain and take Rabaul in their memory.

To make sure I don't lose anymore important leaders I'll just have to transfer ships in and out of my current TF's. BTW, when I started doing that I noticed that if I transfer my flagship out of the TF a new one doesn't get designated!
