Yep. Lewis .303. With the mounting, I think its for a rear gunner in a plane. Or maybe like an SE5a or something.

They were still mounting Lewis guns on planes, even in WW2 (ex. the Blenheim series). A rather enduring design (the Lewis gun, not the Blenheim... )

It's a great book.:)

I got to handel one of these at the Oregon Military Museum a few uears ago, prety light realy, nice finish on it as well.

Yes.

It was for example mounted in the Vals und Kates.
