LOL - I have had MANY games coming up where I thought, well I can play EiA until that is released and those games are now on my computer while EiA is still being worked on. Patience grasshopper, many things improve with age :)

Two Years? Has it been that long already? Criminy! I've got 5 weeks of vacation saved up...I won't use it all for EIA...but a guy has to have a week or two to himself and a new wargame.

When on a jourmey as kids, one of the questions that really annoys parents is the constant refrain of 'Are we nearly there yet?'.

Thankfully in adulthood I have grown out of this phase.

Anyway, about the release date for EiA: Are we nearly there yet?

Shrek 2 and I had been hoping to get it in my treat bag for Halloween back in July, now I would like to see it before the snows melt but I would rather have it be challenging than out soon.

I have been waiting for this game for over a year when a friend told me that it would be released November 15th. I went to the store that day to get my copy and the clerks did not know what I was talking about. Then I was told that the release date was pushed back to February 15th. I was at the store that day and was told that they were sold out. How could that be? Then I started reading the forums and found out that the game was pushed back indefinately, and that the store salespeople lied. It has been very frustrating waiting for this game to be released and part of me wants to be playing the game right now, but a part of me does realize that I would be very upset if I were playing a game that was giving me all sorts of problems. So to all you guys at Matrix, I will be patient and wait. Then to all of you gamers out there, we must continue to give the programers time to get it right so that we can be prasing the design team for a long time in the future.

Whatever you do, don't believe anything retailers tell you. They know nothing.

Remember that this game did not start out as an Empires in Arms port. It was originally to be a new design called "The Napoleonic Wars: 1805-1815." Then, Matrix got into this deal with ADG to produce a computer version of EiA.

Development started a little more than a year ago. It should not be a surprise that it is not finished yet.

Thanks alot. I did not know that the development of the game only started a year ago. That really changes my perspective.

A little more than a year ago?!!

Try something more like 1 1/2 - 2 years ago, just on the EiA port. The "Napoleonic Wars:....." was in the making awhile before that even. Don't go lying to people about how long the game has been in development, the EiA port has been in development about 2 years.

EDIT: After all that is said and done, I am sure Matrix knows what they are doing, even after taking so long as undoubtedly cost them many buyers and has annoyed most other buyers, and at this point there is no way I can see Matrix getting their money back from this game. I think Matrix has learned something from this venture: Dont' bite off more than you can chew (which they obviously did on EiA) and leaves the big and complicated games up to larger companies who know what they are doing. Hopefully this mistake won't happen in the future.

Hey guys:

My questions are very similar ... "How many more lines of code?", "What was I thinking?", "What was I trying to do there?", "What could be causing that?"

I'm anxious just as you guys are! We're currently working out a few kinks in the PBEM system, toughening up the AI and adding a few more map changes. The manual is being worked on and some final touches with sounds.

I realize that I've been working (in the overall sense) for more than two years BUT it is also true that we've only been adapting the engine to EiA for a small portion of that time. Things change in business and us programmers are stuck in the middle, forced to adapt!

I am optimistic since I can see that we're close. No, not close enough to predict when BUT close enough to say weeks!

In summary, I too stand with you guys and demand an answer to "Are we there yet?" or the more appropriate "Am I there yet?".

Thank you

Merci beaucoup, monsieur le Marchall!

We really do apreciate the quick update, as we are anxiously awaiting this game.
Hearing the specific work being done helps in the "waiting game."

"Weeks" sounds like a good answer to me...
