Few turns back I've switched GVT-4 from ABDA to Southeast Asia HQ, and flown them out of Sumatra. Now, after reading the other "PP cheating" thread, I've decided to see what will happen if I transfer them back to Padang to try and disband GVT-6 into GVT-4. I was expecting to see "can not transfer to another HQ" message (or something like that), but no, they all combined and "do you want GVT-6 to come back in 90 days?" message appeared.

Isn't this a bug?

No, disbanding these groups automatically has them come back as SWPAC when they return. As designed.

I might have not been clear enough on the first try.

It went like this:
1. GVT-4 was paid for transfer to Southeast Asia from ABDA and flown out
2. GVT-4 was flown back to Padang
3. GVT-6 which was still ABDA and stationed at Padang was disbanded, merging with Southeastasia GVT-4

Again ... disbanding unit *already* converts the HQ. There is no PP cost involved. The PP is considered paid through not having use of the group.

OK! Thanks for the info. I have been disbanding ABDA units into another ABDA units from day one, so I know they come back in Oz as SWPAC. I was just surprised you can merge two different HQ's units together. The reasoning "you don't have the group" is enough. Thanks again.

Pfnoghoff,

So I guess you transfer only one unit to another HQ and merge them all into the newly designated HQ unit.

1. The old units come back as SWPAC

2. You have a huge unit, far exceeding its max, without the ability to divide.

3. Lose some of the effectiveness of having a lot of little patrol units out and about, but

4. Save some PPs.

By your thought by about Febuary 1, 1942, there maybe tons of PP available. You have a LARGE patrol unit, but now have tons of new patrols under SWPAC control ready and willing to help out. But maybe loss some of the effectiveness of all those little patrols out and about for those 60 days. Kinda a push. Either way could work I guess.
