Consider that playing a long scenario will take at least 4-5 years (at the pace of 1 turn/day)...
consider that many guys are waiting for patch 1.3 before starting a game...
So I say:
It would be fair to warn customers before buying this game:
THIS GAME IS NOT FOR OVER 60s!

btw..I'm 64...methinks I'm the oldest in this forum

Moreover..what about computer obsolescence?...maybe in the next 4 years Microsoft will change NTFS file system again

All that means is you buy yourself a new machine and keep the current one unupgraded as a dedicated WitP platform....

Good advice, Knaust...

I have an additional concern nagging in the back of my mind (and no, it's not the old lady, either). As we approach patch 1.30 and anticipate 1.40, I realize that just about all the long campaign scenario problems that have been identified and fixed have arisen through experience with playing the first six months or so of the game. What dangers lurk as we play our way through the end of 1943 into 1944 and on toward 1945? We may be in a position of having played this thing for most of our second childhood and suddenly find ourselves right back in the position we are now - suspending play pending a patch and deciding to restart ...

I am 56. I suspect that I will be thoroughly senile before I get to drop my first A-bomb.

True. I am not sure how much testing the later stages on the game have had. BUT, IMO the game is truely playable right now and the 1.3 patch is getting rid of some of the worst bugs.. So when you get into 44 and encounter a bug the game will most likely still be playable, but you and your opponent may have to make a quick house rule to fix the bug. I would not worry about it.. Besides by then you will have had a year of enjoyment out of the game and a new understanding of it - no matter how much you think you understand now...

So, I for one am not worried about it.. I would love to play a game into 44 without a restart and hopefully after 1.3 I can...

Yes; this means the CobraAus is now second oldest at 62. I am way down the list at 60.

Just cause your old will not get you a reprieve from my allied war machine.
We can start a 2 day turn game after the patch and that will cut the time in half
giving you a chance to play another 4 - 8 campaigns .

lets see, 7 Dec 41 to 31 Mar 46 is about 53 months, or 19321 days. if i play 5 turns a day it should take me about 3864 days to finish. That means a lot of and ,not to mention a lot of , not much and probably a lot less !

After playing scenary 15 until march 1942, I realized that I should start one of the 1943 or 44 campaings too. Now I am even thinking of start one campaing for each year... well... it could be too much.

53 months is 19321 days? Man, it must be a long time in between your pay cheques

I would sure be great for weekends too....but I come up with appx 51 months and appx 1524 days....keep in mind that i did not count leap year (does the game?) and a avg of 30 days a month.
