Situation Report

I'm still a little annoyed about my subs that revealed themselves. Hope Wobbly doesn't evacuate Trincomalee.
The fleet will hit the enemy in 3 days. 3 ca's were spotted at Diamond Harbour - so I'll raid this base as well before
the invasion fleet moves up towards Rangoon.

Most of the loading has been completed and all task forces will sail tomorrow. Seems like I've managed to coordinate
loading Logistics is a nightmare..

Wobbly wantes me to divert Zeros to China to defeat his Hurries and Warhawks. Fat chance..we'll see whom reinforces what
B17's are surely active, but the raids against minor resource bases isn't a threat to me, and I'm shooting down forts each day now.

I'm a little worried before the battle, Al is a quick learner and an excellent opponent. It will take a lot of brute force to achieve results.

I can commit 100% to Operation Hangover for the remainder of 1942. I'll be able to keep the Allies at bay in the South Pacific until 1943.
US recon planes flew over Wake today, but I doubt we'll see much more action for some time to come.

The torpedo bombers at PM continues to hit the occasional patrol craft or barge - but supplies are getting through and I've soon got 2 size
4 airfields at both Buna and Lae. More barges are moving down from Truk, so I won't have to risk any high value ships.

Think we'll be seeing a lot more AAR's done in the style of this, it lets the reader know everything they need to know, without Allies or Japan losing any element of suprise.

Might even do mine like this

Situation Report

I was lucky and got away with my invasion of Timor - at least for now. My inferior force managed to fend of the Allied ships and put a torpedo into the light cruiser Raleigh. I've moved reinforcements to Kendari and will create a 'southern fortress' to prevent Wobbly from taking advantage of my adventure in India.

All of my convoys are now sailing up the Malacca strait! Tension is building.
25 subs are also spreading out in a fan all over the Indian Ocean. Wobblys alarm bells are going to go off big time soon.

An Allied search plane spotted some of my ships heading west north of Sumatra. I'm not sure what Al is going to make of this, but he's surely going to suspect that something's up. I'm moving in from the western part of Ceylon to prevent the British fleet from escaping. 2 more days and the hammer falls....

Situation Report

Weather lifts and the KB finds several smaller targets and obliterates them. I almost loose more torpedo bombers
than I like as a large strike flies all the way to Colombo unescorted. Have reduced their range to 4, I only want them to launch torpedoes.

A large bombardment group is formed and will hit Trimcomalee tomorrow - the destroyers have been detached and are ordered to escort the larger ships.
The KB will move to the western tip of Ceylon - half the bombers are ordered to hit Colombo's port.

This will make it possible to hit both of the large ports at Ceylon at the same time, and since weather has lifted, (partly cloudy) my bombers will catch all British ships
that are trying to run for it. (I've left a small opening towards the east - but this is were we're heading next.)

108 naval bombers are now in Rangoon together with 168 Zeros.
The bombers will perform a night attack against Diamond Harbour, this should effectively smoke the badgers out

Tomorrow a fast transport group will load up at Moulmein and head for Akyab. After landing here, another para contingent will be dropped.

Timor has been occupied 9 Betties, 9 Zeros and 8 Dinahs have been moved into Kaupang. A small search and strike force that will make it dangerous to move ships of
Northern Oz.

Tomorrow it's the 1st of April and the official opening of Operation Hangover! Surprise, surprise Al....
Todays strikes was just a small taster, but I'm sure our esteemed opponent alreadyl knows that somethings cooking.
Hopefully we can destroy the British fleet before the major landings takes place.

Situation Report

April 1st, fools day! It surely provided both me and Al with unpleasent surprises, that's for sure

Ok, the British Fleet was not in Trimcomalee, neither was it in Colombo or in Ceylon at all! My bombardment and airstrikes damaged and
sank an assortion of Allied shipping, but another unescorted raid against Colombo cost me 20 bombers shot down by Hurries. I'm not going to complain anymore
about this as it's obvious that it has been hard coded into the game. I really don't have much faith in using the KB when it's up against defended targets, cause in most
instances my bombers fly in unescorted and kill themselves.

Got enough trained Vals and Kates to replace the losses in Singapore though.

My plan B as described yesterday included a port attack against Diamond Harbour: Since I observed ca's here only a few days after the bombardment of Andaman Island, I
thought that Al just might try to hide his fleet from me. This was a calculated risk though, he knows how deadly port attacks are - and anchoring a big fleet within range of my
naval bombers is asking for trouble. I do understand why he did it though, cause retiring all the way to Karachi and Bombay would efficiently not only take them out of harms way, but also remove them from the action for a while.

My uber efficient night bombers did certainly find the British fleet: The Resolution was sunk while 2-3 other bb's were damaged!
I told Wobbly that he now got 2 options:

1.) Stay in port and get bombed into the gutter
2.) Come out and face the firing squad and die like a man

I've not oredered a second port attack for tomorrow, many of my bombers are damaged and they need to rest - but the KB is wheeling around and is heading into the
Bay of Bengal. The battlefleet will reorganize, meet the replenishment fleet at Andaman Island, and execute bombardment attacks against Diamond Harbour.

I have to remove the British fleet one way or the other before my troop convoys arrive. 120000 men are enroute and will disembark in a week or so.
Only 3300 men were reported at Trimcomalee, while a full division was found at Colombo. This means that I can easily occupy the first one while Colombo requires 2-3 divisions.

Other consequences: Al now knows that the KB is in India, and his cv's can reign freely in the Pacific. I'm moving the bulk of my ships back from Rabaul and Truk to prevent them from being destroyed if he decided to be bold.

I'm preparing to march north in both China and Burma, but I'll wait another few days. I'd like to see how Al reacts to todays events.

Sounds like you've got things well in hand... Have you moved Nells or Betties up to Kwaj, Truk or Rabaul to cover in case he gets bold?

Also, I assume you're both playing through without restarting, right?

Situation Report

Wobbly said he prefers to stay in port instead of facing the firing squad - well, he gets!-)

I'm moving the 14th Army north of Rangoon to see whether it is possible to rout the Allied Army there.
(3 rested crack divisions, 2 engineer regiments, 1 Arty Battalion, 1 AA Battalion and 1 Tank Regiment)
Air attacks have also been stepped up in this region.

A Zero Daitai with 70% trained pilots (the rest got around 40 exp) has been sent to China. Only Hurricane II's left there now and I want to gain air supremacy before marching north.

A fast transport is loading up at Moulmein, it got 3 fast minelayers and will move a full brigade to Akyab in 3-4 runs.
Paras will be dropped when a beachead has been established.

The KB is steaming NNE towards Diamond Harbour - the battlefleet will replenish at Andaman Island tomorrow and follow suit. The invasion convoy is about to clear the Malacca straith. A strong escort and 27 Zeros on an CVE should take it safely up to Rangoon were it will be met by the KB.

In 12 days I will receive 4 trained Zero Daitais. 3 of these will move to the Southern Pacific.
Madflava: I got 119 Betties and Nells based at Truk, Rabaul and Kwajalein. There is not a lot of shipping left in the area.
I've got 8000 men at Tarawa, 7000 at Shortland and 7000 at Lunga. Wobbly will have to commit rather strongly to make an impact here.

The airbase at Lae has almost been built to size 4, and 27 Helens moved in today and were put on naval attack. (Spotted allied ships at PM, so I've ordered 5 destroyers to intercept.)

Situation Report

Lots of things happening!
The British fleet (or parts of it) is still in Diamond Harbour. Tomorrow the KB will be in position to launch attacks. The battlefleet is refuelling north of Andaman Isl.

The 200000 men aboard the invasion fleets will leave the Malacca Strait tomorrow and head NNE.

In Burma the 14th Army marched north and will start bombarding the enemy tomorrow. They're all rested and prepared. An assault value of 1500 and 600 guns should provide enoug firepower to weaken the malaria sick Allied troops. My bombers are hitting them hard as well now.

The fast transport group with 3 msw's will unload parts of a Bde at Akyab tomorrow. It will then return to Moulmein to pick up another load. (They can lift 3400, and the bde is almost 15000 in size.)

In China I've ordered the armies to march on Kunching. 70000 men are marching from the east while 200000 men are coming up from Sian in the South.
I've left enough troops behind to defend the railroad against as many as 80000 Chinese troops.
The bombers are ordered to hit the enemy again as the Warhawks has been moved out and the Hurricanes no longer can stand up to the newly arrived Zeros.

In New Guinea I've ordered the surface group (5 dd's) heading for PM to turn around. The enemy ships can no longer be spotted and enemy search planes spotted my own ships.
A fast transport group carrying a small SNLF group was hit by fighterbombers. The remaining ships will unload their cargo at Gili Gili and steam east to get out of range from PM. I want to deny the base to Wobbly and make sure he doesn't land engineers there and start building another base from where to bomb me. Just want to force him to make an effort no matter what he wants to do.

Al thinks me lucky since I'm causing magazine explosions general carnage all over the place
I told him that luck usually favors the side with the largest hammer, and in no more than a year the tables will be turned.
That's why I have to strike now, and strike hard!

No mercy for the bad if they want it
No mercy for the bad if they plead
No mercy for the bad if they need it
No mercy from me

Situation Report

We've now updated to V1.3 - but will of course not restart the game

The KB is now moving into position 4 hexes south of Diamond Harbor - here it will meet the battlefleet and deliver a heavy port attack. Then the fleet will move in and bombard!
1800 men have been landed at Akyab, but not ordered to attack. I will slowly build up a force that can capture the base. If Wobbly wants to keep it, he has to move troops from Chandpur, Dacca and elsewhere on the indian mainland - that I'm soon going to invade!

The 14th Army will only conduct bombardment attacks for some time to come, I mainly want to keep the enemy in Burma - for now at least.

In New Guinea Gili Gili has been invaded. I will mostly perform minor operations in this area and try to build a strong perimeter defense.
Only if operations in India can be successfully concluded, will I have enough resources to invade PM. Hopefully the war will be over by Chritstmas Yeah, right!

Situation Map: Preparing to Strike the enemy fleet!

Situation Report

Bad weather in the Indian Ocean today - not a single strike from the KB. Well, a concentrated effort tomorrow as the weather is about to lift.
4 battleships will hit Chandput while 5 goes after Diamond Harbor. I've split the destroyers up, half will follow the fleet into Diamond while the rest escorts the KB.
Wobbly could try a desperat intercept mission....

Meanwhile the invasion fleet is steamong NNE and will pass Rangoon in a few days.
I'm just holding back the convoy with the division that is preparing for Trincomalee - when the KB is freed up, I will land here as well. Since I think there's only 3-4000 men defending the place, I'll bring in base forces and then pound Colombo into starvation. Perhaps I don't even have to invade it - it will be next to impossible for Wobbly to bring in supplies.

Spotted 2 ak's WSW of Lunga? I also lost a Mavis to flak and a Wildcat was reported as an operational loss today. Muha, the US carriers are enroute to give me a surprise.
Moving shipping north from Rabaul and back to Truk - and I now got 60 bombers and 27 figthers ready to strike if the enemy gets to close.

Hi,

it seems there is nothing left to defend Japan. All CV + BB are in action against India. 6 ( or 7 ) BB in a bombard-force with more than 20 ships, hm, not very realistic.

What would happen, if the american CV attack the homelands?

Well, BBs and CAs wouldn't help against an american CV raid at the homeland anyway. So, if he commits KB to Hangover he can just as well take the BBs along. Only other use would be to threaten enemy landings in other locations, but only as long as those are not/little supported by CVs/LBA...

Well, BBs and CAs wouldn't help against an american CV raid at the homeland anyway. So, if he commits KB to Hangover he can just as well take the BBs along. Only other use would be to threaten enemy landings in other locations, but only as long as those are not/little supported by CVs/LBA...

I do understand your point Scharnhorst. I would never leave the home islands undefended, but an all out effort is just that: It requires the use of the bulk of ones forces in an attempt to win the war. Much like Germany had to do against Russia - when the Allies invaded in the West, there were insufficient forces available to fend of the landings.
They gambled - and lost! Hopefully I'll not end up on histories scrap heap

Since the Allies are too weak to do anything else than raid the home islands in 1942-43, I find this an acceptable risk. Especially as another Doolittle raid is not without risks to the Us carriers either. I've garrisoned all the islands from Tarawa and north to the home islands and placed long range search planes there. Hopefully, this will give me some advanced warning. There are now 130 naval bombers and ca 70 Zeros available to me in the South Pacific.

In 12 days I'm receiving 3 new trained Zero Daitais, and these will augment my defensive capabilities in the South and on the Home Islands. I already got numerous Nate Squadrons - even though not very efficient, they do provide some protection against dive bombers. There are also trained Zero, Kate, Val and Sally Daitais' on the Home Islands.

In addition, there are 1 cve, 2 cruisers and 12 destroyers at Rabaul and Truk. The battleship Mutsu, (now repaired) a heavy cruiser, 8 destroyers and 1 cs are based at Tokyo. In 27 days the CV Junyo will arrive, and shortly after that the Yamato will complement the new battlegroup. I will keep this group in reserve, and when the Hiyo and another light carrier arrives - I have another carrier group that can operate independently or reinforce the KB.

All in all, I feel that this is sufficient to defend against an Allied carrier attack. The losses they can inflict on me will be marginal, and if I'm lucky it will be possible to damage or even sink an Allied carrier since damage that far away from a home base could be fatal. So I don't really think Wobbly will risk so much to gain so little...although he's a cunning Admiral that shouldn't be underestimated. There may well be a price to pay for concentrating the bulk of my forces in the west for a while!

No guts no glory

Situation Report

What a turn! The entire Pacific theatre exploed in action and saw some of the most savage air battle thus far.
No less than 144 ac were lost:

Causes Allied Japanese
--------------------------------------------------------
Air to air 55 38
Field 17
Flak 3 26
Op. 2 3
--------------------------------------------------------
Total 77 67
--------------------------------------------------------

These losses included
Japanese: 16 Zeros, 18 Kates, 4 Vals, 4 Nells, 6 Betties, 9 Nates and 7 Oscars
Allied: 12 Buffalos, 11 Wildcats, 17 Hurricanes II, 8 I-16's, 5 Warhawks, 8 SB-2's and 8 Wirraways.

Losses in China were almost eqaul on both sides, the Nates and Oscar I's are having a hard time keeping up with Hurricans. Will order them on CAP and use the Zeros to
reduce the Hurricanes from now on.

The Allied flak over Diamond Harbour was quite heavy and i winced as bomber after bomber was shot down! This wasn't a surprise attack at Pearl Harbour though, and destroying 3 enemy battleships does require a butchers bill.... I do have 52 trained Vals and Kates ready to replace the KB's losses though.

Wobbly did send some of his cruisers running west, and that's ok - I can't get em all. One of my picket subs placed a torpedo in an anti aircraft cruiser though.
The remainder of the British fleet will run to Ceylon, or more likely to Karachi and Bombay. We will deal with them later.
As of now, I've destroyed the heavy units in the fleet - I doubt it will be possible to move these out since they're probably close to sinking.

Almost 5000 men were killed in the bombardment attack at Diamond Harbour: Recon estimates a total of 38000 Allied troops here, but only 2000 in Chanpur.
I can easily blast both these ports into submission using battleships - but it seems like the road into India is open! 200000 men will land at Chanpur and cut Burma and China off from India!!

When this has been achieved, I will continue to hit the coastal ports and secure Trincomalee! Then the road will be open to push towards Karachi and Bombay.
Success here is of incredible importance! The war can be won if India is destroyed We will pursue the enemy and never let him rest!! The carnage and damage inflicted may be enough to force the Allies to the negotiation table, and then a favorable peace can be won That is the best we can hope for. If todays losses seems heavy, it is NOTHING compared to the cost of fighting a prolonged war. In 1944 the Allies will outnumber us greatly and it will be very difficult to prevail.

Wobblys counterattack at Lunga wasn't unexpected - especially since I spotted ships heading towards the Southern Solomons yesterday. I'm a little surprised about how quickly the eager beaver struck though The Solomons is of no great importance to me, I've put up an outer perimeter in order to defend the Empire as far outside the national borders as possible. So a lot of effort will not be put into holding the place. The garrison numbers a mere 2300 men, and a strong enemy attack will wipe it out.

What I'm afraid of is that Wobbly would send all his US carriers to the Indian Ocean - if he destroys the fighting capability of the KB, the gambit can no longer succeed!
So let him roam freely in the South Pacific! My naval bombers carries a leathal sting, and his slow battleships became even slower today as hundreds of tons of water poured into their broken hulls! More bombers were moved into Rabaul from Truk today - so if the enemy stays, he's going to pay for it.

The game is now gearing up towards a climax!! Gawd, this is going to be one helluva battle

Situation Map: Counterstrike at Lunga

This is such a great AAR. I hang on every update, like the damn election. I must check on it three times a day.

I second that!

PS
Don't worry PzB, I upgraded the kids back home from paper doll making to armament production. We don't want our troops throwing paper doll at those imperialists, now don't we?

Situation Report

Wobbly was mightily unhappy about the loss of 4-5000 men at Diamond Harbour! Said he sent in 6 arty units with 36 guns each to provide counter battery fire.
All but 1!! is now unoperational Thx for the info Al, makes me more confident about the future...!

25 Allied ac was shot down today, even though attrition is also taking its toll on Jap squadrons!

The fleet has refuelled and will now follow the invasion fleet into Chanpur! A single division will land first and capture the port before the reamining troops disembark.
This should reduce losses as much as possible. A regiment and engineer unit has now been dispatched towards Akyab and will secure a forward airfield.
I'm now loading supportive units and supplies for the division that's preparing to invade Trincomalee! The KB will be released from its duty as soon as Chanpur is captured.
A surface group will also accompany these groups. After capturing Trincomalee, Colombo will be suppressed and bombed out of supplies. Zeros and naval bombers will make it impossible to reinforce it.

I'm quite confident about success in the initial parts of Operation Hangover now! It's the final parts involving Karachi and Bombay that will be tough. I got 3 full divisions at Singapore that will prepare for this task. They will also be supported by other troops that can be spared...

Wobbly was uncertain whether he had brought enough men to capture Lunga. Wouldn't worry if I were him. I only got 2 NLF units, the rest are construction and base units that aren't exactly frontline units. So it will fall easily enough. He claims that the battleships are only lightly damaged, 20 flood and 9 fires. Should nevertheless give some sys damage that it takes time to remove. Hopefully the naval bombers will be allowed to strike again tomorrow.

Ten Little Fortresses

Ten little Fortresses, all was going fine
'til one got bombed and then there were nine

Nine little Fortresses homing rather late.
One ran out of fuel, then there were eight

Eight little Fortresses caught in Satan's heaven.
One met Messerschmitts, then there were seven

Seven little Fortresses lost without a fix
One hit a hill top and then there were six

Six little Fortresses, one went in a dive
Winding up in the brine, then there were five

Five little Fortresses, with one late for war
A prop wouldn't feather, then there were four

Four little Fortresses high above the sea
One got its tail knocked off, then there were three

Three little Fortresses, looked like winning through
One became a flying bomb, then there were two

Two little Fortresses, their combat days done
One wasn't safe to fly and then there was one

One little Fortress survived for quite a run
The French let if fade away, so there were none
------------------------------------------------------------------

Todays poem - and I must admit that I wouldn't mind

Aye, we're waiting for Frag to 'fix' our sub settings!
After we upgraded to V1.2, both Allied and Jap sub doctrines got turned on.
Al didn't actually enjoy this very much as his subs doesn't attack my transports at all

How sad.....

Situation Report

Burma/India/Bay of Bengal

For the first time weather turned clear in the Bay of Bengal - the Blenheims at Calcutta flew two full strike sorties over my invasion fleets. Only the Zeros from the escort carrier prevented them from causing too much damage as the LRCAP from Rangoon stayed home.

A PG and a transport have been dispatched and will follow the initial strike force into Chanpur - they both got 50 sys damage. Need to unload parts of a tank regiment before the ships is hit again. Don't want it to slow down my fleet either.

I'm now moving the KB close to the invasion fleet to provide heavy CAP.
The escort carrier got 22 sys damage,8 fires and minor flood. She should be able to continue to support the invasion as long as she's not hit again. Did a good job at drawing fire from my vulnerable troop ships today!

The invasion tf's have been ordered to wait for the stragglers just outside Akyab. The division that is preparing for Chanpur will go in first. The hope is that Wobbly will believe this is the main body heading for Akyab. Tomorrow he'll know for sure that my main effort will be against the heartland of India

Seems like B17's and the bulk of the British AF are operating out of Calcutta! I've ordered my naval bombers to perform a night attack against their airfields. The few British bombers that are hitting Rangoon by night are causing more damage than I like, so I'll try to return the favor. I'm pretty sure Wobbly will order them to attack other targets soon....

Will be a few very exciting days now, I will take some losses since I'm moving so much materiel that it's difficult to keep it all covered. Hopefully we can land most of the men unharmed though. That's the most important thing. If we can occupy the heartland of India, Wobbly will have to retreat his airforce either to Mandalay or into the interior.

China

In China the Zeros decided to stay home while the rest of the AF there launched a full effort strike Argh, annoying...
I'm now ordering the Zeros to conduct sweeps to defeat the Hurricanes, or at least reduce their numbers. I'll also be surprised if Wobbly keeps British fighters in China when India gets invaded.

My army has almost reached Kunching and will prepare to lay siege to it in a few days. The eastern army under command of the Northern China Army is moving more slowly and will first arrive in a week or so.

Solomons

In the Solomons another big strike is launched against the Allied invasion fleet off Lunga! I had high hopes as most of the bombers got through the Wildcat screeen that was mauled by the escorting Zeros. Immediately I noticed how each attach went in very quickly and somehow I knew they weren't going to hit anything. 40 crack torpedo bombers and not a single hit. All in all I lost 10 naval bombers today and I will now rest them before sending them out again. Got a lot of damaged av to repair.

A pretty hairy day for the fly boys actually: I only lost 2 Zeros in air to air combat, another 5 on the ground and to operational causes. 10 naval bombers were also write offs, so all in all I didn't loose too many of my best ac. The 'second echelon' was hit hard though: 18 Lilys, 5 Helens, 10 Oscars, 13 Nates - a total of 63 ac written off. I'm not going to provide replacements for neither Lilys or Nates as they are almost useless.

26 Allied ac were destroyed in the air - mostly Blenheims and Wildcats and I-16's.

Lunga should fall tomorrow, and I'm not going to try to reinforce it! I'm curious about whether Al is going to keep his US navy in the South Pacific while the war is being decided thousands of miles to the NW

No doubt, he'll feel satisfied with the losses he incurred today and I hope it lulls him into a false feeling of security.
I'm not deterred and is now preparing to unleash the dogs of war!!

Great AAR PzB

I was wondering where you stand with naval losses?
I'm playing the IJN in my scenario and I'm trying to keep losses relatively light... so I was wondering what major ships you have lost.

Again, great game and what a bold move!!!

Thx Rag
I've lost the carriers Hiryu and Soryu...and that's about it I think, but that's bad enough!

Situation Report

A better day - but not perfect! I got things in hand in the Bay of Bengal now, but my sloppiness in the Southern Pacific is heavily punished as
my bombers from Rabaul and Truk takes off against the invasion fleet after I thought I had rested them. (Or that they didn't have the range to bomb Lunga from Truk.)
The nightbombing raid against Calcutta is a success though, and the hapless Blenheims really gets it again. I loose 27 ac against 32 allied - but 17 of these are Betties and Nells while most of the rest are Zeros. A much more painful loss than when the Lilys and Nates bought it yesterday.

I have to do better than this!!!
Can live with taking heavy casualties when it's the enemy that inflicts them, but this is like shooting oneself in the foot

Well, the invasion fleet has now sailed past Akyab and Wobbly knows I'm coming! The KB is ordered to close to 1 hex of Chanpur, with a heavy surface escort of course.
I spot 500+ AFV's at the base - hmmm, this makes me believe that there's an armoured division there. Alas, I'm ordering a bigger assault than initially planned as I'm unsure whether 1 division is enough to capture the place as quickly as I opt for.

A full regiment will disembark at Akyab tomorrow, hopefully I can have a Daitai of Zeros operating out of here and Chanpur within a few days.

Another heavy bombardment of Chanpur is also ordered.
This can be costly, but I'm crossing my fingers - there's nothing more I can do now. Let's hope luck again favors the bold!

It's easy to be a general after the battle, but, you should cut the range of your bettys and nells...
I also often forget to change this....

I have been following both sides of this with great interest. Two very good, experienced players obviously.

I am a bit surprised that both of you are using so much night bombing with the problems reported on that. I suppose if you both use it it tends to even out, but you are getting some horrifically effective results.

There is no forgiveness for this, I knew it - or at least I should have known it.
Usually I would like my long range bombers to hit any ships within range - but this rule does not apply to ships
with CAP

I've been moving reserves from Truk to Rabaul. Now I had to disband a size 9 Daitai to make my losses good.
Don't want to use 9 rookie pilots for replacements in a very experienced Daitai.

Never seen such a long range strike as this before though, Truk -> Lunga! That's a LONG way.

We're both experienced UV players that are slowly getting to grips with WitP!
Night bombin is over efficient, no doubt about it. We've just not agreed on any house rules yet.
I think we eventually will...so we'll see.

I've smacked Al's ships up pretty badly in port while he's been night bombing my airfields.
Yesterday saw my first effective response to this threat.

This is a problem that will grow in proportions - especially for Japan - as the Allies gets thousands of heavy bombers. Then it will be possible to lay waste to every Jap port of airfield within range.

We'll discuss it, then we'll see!
