well this was disappointing given i have the book. spent too much time on the kamakaze, too much tyime on the modern japanese navy, was more of a history than a focus on technology, arizona blew up at least 3 times ( and 2 of those times the film was backwards from reality), i counted at least 4 obvious errors and maybe i have just read too much and seen too many documentaries. oh well at least i can tape over it.
as i am a 3d graphics artist, the animation of mikasa was pretty cool.

Yeah, it was interesting for what it was. But I thought is was a little short on detail and was just plain wrong in many respects.

For example, they claimed that the US success at the "Marianas Turkey Shoot" air battle was due to superior skill on the part of the US pilots. This is partly true, but they failed to mention that the success was due more to superior aircraft and tactics of the US side.

Further, they mentioned that today's Japanese navy is on a par with the major western powers!!!??? I'ld like to know how many and of what type of ships do they actually have??

Do they have any carriers?

They never mentioned any of this.

The Modern Japanese Navy has many Very Modern Surface Combants, benifiting from the Phased area radar technoligy, in US ship clases like the Ageise Crusers and Arligh Burke DD's, their Submarine technoligy is prety good as well, basicaly they have prety much the same technoligy on their modern ships as the US does.

O-The History chanel tends to piss me off because of the wrongness in many of the shows it host's and the misconceptions they leave on the vast bulk of the audance that dont know any beter, this dishonors those who were their on both sides.
