Hey guys...

I'm in the middle of taking a couple Japanese bases, and I've run into some very strong lvl 8 fortifications at each spot (which are making my deliberate attacks ineffective despite my overwhelming force advantage).

Now, I've got a couple additional divisions on their way to each beachhead, but besides that is there anything else I could land there that would make a difference? An engineer group? Armor?

Engineers help against fortifications... Armor does not.

I've noticed that the army divisions have engineers included in them. If I send an EAB group in will they be used to help reduce the fort or just as support?

I believe they will help, BUT only if they have combat troops with them and are able to attack along with the rest of your units. I have only really played the japanese side since the game came out and am not familiar with the allied units.

Do you have the Japanese base set as the objective for your forces, and have they accumulated prep points? The Jap forces are probably at 100% prepped, if you don't have any prep points that can make a big difference

Yeah... I had 'em at about 60% prepped.

As a follow up, though, after my reinforcements arrived the Japanese turned tail and decided to 'attack in a different direction' to the adjacent hex!
