Hello everyone, I've been very interested in this series, I have UV and enjoy it very much. My problem however is the constant updating, I know some patches are needed but I never was able to complete a game with UV, Due to the constant changing of the data and game mechanics. Forcing me to constantly change my tactics, Not due to war but technical glitches. I can see a simuliar trend with WiTP. Are the next few patches close to being final 1.4 and 1.5? And if not how compatible are the updates with saved games?

Usually -very- compatable.

You might get some "less than normal" results on the turn that you upgrade (you wouldn't need to worry that you'd get something completely bizarre tho).

People have to understand the difference in a OB change, and engine change (bug fix).

An OB change is a change to the setup, or attibutes of given units. The OB for a game is set at it's launch. So any OB fixes from patches will -not- be carried into a game that is already in progress. So when RN ships gained their patrol planes in v1.3, the games that were started in v1.21 did -not- gain the search planes.

An engine change is a change to the code. So something like the medium bombers repairing faster, will begin to affect all games, regardless of what version they were started under.

If you enoyed UV, you'll enjoy WitP. I highly recommend.

Hope this helps.

Feinder,

Yes thank you! I got the Digital DL last night and to my surprise my local Office Depot made a mistake and printed the manual in full color for $15.00! Hopefully I'll be able to give her a go tomorrow!

Not sure what version you got from DD, but ensure you patch up to 1.4 before doing anything else. Don't forget to read the large list of changes in the various patch notes so you know whats changed.

Yep, they made a big mistake. Color should be about 150.00 dollars.

But then, I do not use manuals. I fumble along quite well with out it.

Other than referring to the manual for very specific things, I got the game and jumped right into Scen 15 (way back in July). The interface was similar enough to UV that I felt comfortable enough doing so. The only true problem I had was with Japanese production. I basically learned that through trial and error for 3 games (the first attempt was so botched that I didn't make it past Spring '42). Most things in this game are fairly straight-forward, especially for those who've played UV. However, I would never recommend that method to another!

Rick

Neither would I if they had not tangled with UV first. I also figured out Japanese production thru trial and error. Only my oopsies occured much faster in the game. Like Jan 42 before I said "DOH".

I have now got it down to a science, with Lemurs 4.0 anyway. The stock version would give me a headache.
