This has me flumoxed. In the 3rd turn of a new 1.4 PBEM, my 'static' Hainan BF (ID 1236) which began the game in Kiungahan has moved along the road to hex 38,41, where it is now manifesting its 'static' destiny and refuses to return to Hainan

The only thing that should be on that road is the 1st Aviation Rgt (ID 1525), which is trudging its way towards Taan as ordered.

What's a fella to do?

What scenario are you playing?

In previous versions, if all the static devices in a unit were disabled, the unit could move, but this seems to have corrected in version 1.4.

We're playing the stock Scenario 15, new under 1.4.

How are the static devices ina unit disabled? This is just Turn 3 and there has been no combat anywhere near this base.

Thanks!

A percentage of devices can start disabled. This is a defined value for a unit in the database.
In this scenario (15), the value is only 2% IIRC for unit #1236.

I just started up a game and tried moving it, but it would not. Maybe if you can you should look back over any saved games to see when it began to move. All I can suggest.

The only other time I have seen this is when the BF starts with non-static devices and they get upgraded to static while the unit is moving. The unit digs in where it is.
The other condition I think would be if all the static devices were destroyed and then the unit got replacements for those devices, it would also dig in.
Neither of these seem to fit your case though.

So far the consensus seems to be I'm stuck

I have this feeling that Allied propaganda had something to do with this. They've convinced by BF to strike for better working conditions and compensation. As if serving the Japanese Empire was not honor enough!

Thanks for the info!

Our friendly static BF, so unhappy in Kiungahan, has evidently found the pastures greener in Taan, where it is now settling down. It will be interesting to see how much static the 2 BFs now in Taan generate.

Being newly leds (sic) I imagine a lot of supply will be consumed in Taan this winter....

I have had similar problems on a larger scale. Playing Jap in v 1.4, I've seen fortresses in Japan pick up and move around the map. Never gave orders to any units at the base, but Chichijima, Tsugaru and Ching Tao fortresses were roaming around. Hey, isn't Chichijima on a small Bonin Island? Where the hell could it move to?

Nothing shown on the units re: march orders or changed destinations, and the zone is human-controlled.

After the Holidays, hopefully one of Matrix's support staff will address this. Very disturbing!

Have a good 'un!
