I am early war so mine is not so great yet but FO Sullivan, C.P of the USAAF 35th FG in Port Moresby has 11 confirmed kills in the P-39D. I love the Air War in this game it is why I play it all the rest is just icing on the cake.

Next is an Aussie with 10 kills in P-40 in the 75th RAAF sqd.

In my game -vs- the AI, I have two pilots in the 24th FG in Port Moresby that are awesome. The first has 27 kills and the second has 26. (It is July of 1942)

I'm at 2 Mar 42 and have two pilots in the 24th FG with 5 kills and one in VF-6 with 6 kills. No pilots in any RAF, RAAF or NEIAAF units have more than 3 kills. What really suprises me is that I have two Chinese I-16 FSs on human control at Yenen (sp?) and I 've got one pilot with 15 kills, one with 11 and several more with 5+. In fact one squadron has a total of 70 kills and the other has 35, but they are facing only Nates and Sonias and I don't think those numbers would be as high if they were facing better a/c, like Oscars and Lillys.

I've got a Lightning J pilot with 28 kills, vs the AI, 43 scenario. Funny thing is, the AI has a pilot in Rabaul with about 50-something kills. Its funny because with the number my fighters have been doing on his unit, he must be the only guy left out of the everyone they started the scenario with. The turnover ratio should be somwehere around 300%, and yet he lives.

Well I am only 11 December but yet have my 2 favorite pilotes

FO Campbell N (aomi ? oO ) AVG A/ flying P-40B, stationned at Singapour ( I know I am weak... ). 6 Kills in only 1 mission !!! I know it was against unescorted Nell but frankly knowing the ammo load of the P-40B it is a freaking record anyway....

SLDR Makie Ed. 243th Squadron Buffalo I, only 2 kill in 4 mission but this guy have 95! experience .

Following their adventures is quite fascinating in fact :)

The AVG pilots, with th new patch, would be the leaders of this list.
In my current Pbem game we're in mid jan and my best pilot is T.Abe (zero) with 6 kills on his shoulders.
He's been reported MIA last turn after a useless and fightless escort mission over Burma

Holy cow , doesnt thought of that... :( please tell me Dakota is a fighter, please, please , please...

Just checked the database and I have a single word : OVER MY DEAD BODY , Err, that's four words actually....

Now this guy got to get used with his ****ing buffalo because that the only cockpit he gonna see until 1946 !!!

( or perhaps I will just have some disband transfer to other buffalo unit ;) )

I would reccomend the latter choice. That way, when 243 comes back they will have "fresh, new" pilots and when they upgrade to Dakotas you won't be "wasting" your high experience on bus drivers. Just make sure that the Buff Sqd. that you choose is the "right" one for your needs.

Well that raise an intersting problem as I will probably have my other squadrons quite overcrowded if I just did that...

What will happen of the excessing pilots ?

In general, they sit around drinking coffee, smoking cigs and looking cool.

But, on the other hand, if you send the unit to a high attrition fight, then you have surplus pilots that you can "wastage" your way thru, before you have to worry about degradation of you combat efficiency.

Well Sullivan got 12 kills now but I moved the 49th FG up to PM to take over cap so that the 35th could escort the naval strikes. I guess the kills will slow down for Sullivan now. The 49th FG is large with about 50 planes so not too many aces being created out this one but a couple with 3 and 4 kills.

Is there any way to see which bomber group sinks ships? I know in WWII they would put the emblem on the bombers for any ships they sank.

This thread made me think of an interesting thing. Hot and cold streaks.

One of my "Headhunters" was up in the 20-kill range and then he just went cold. I havent heard from him for a dozen turns now while his squardon mates have been racking up kills. And as far as I can tell, he's been flying because his mission total has changed.

On the other hand, I have a Tommy flying a Spit in China (don't ask!). He had flown about a dozen missions and made absolutely no impact aside from wasting avgas. Then, he got shot down and rescued. In the next two days afterwards he racked up 7 kills. Aside from being on a hot streak, I'm guessing he was plenty mad at having to hit the silk.

I had a Demon pilot who, outnumbered defending Soerabaja harbor, shot down 4 Zeroes in a row. A Zero even got shot down by a Sea Gladiator in that action! I think that my opponent loaded a few too many AKs up with sake for those boys..

Sullivan fell into one of those cold streaks now, he has not had a kill since I posted that two days ago. That is at least 2 dozen turns since then give or take.

My best fighter pilot by far is "P.Lin" a Chinese pilot. He shot down a Nell. It was unescorted but there were 8 Nells in the group he attacked.

The reason this guy is the best Ace in my game, and possibly in the history of the world, is he was flying that crummy Chinese biplane fighter when he got the kill. Degree of Diffiuculty "11" as Nigel would say.

I was surprised, and I can only imagine how surprised the Nell's crew were!

FLT Pikton, 232 Squadron, stationed in Imphal, India. 13 kills. 06/27/1942. 26 missions.

He is just now undergoing retraining as he trades his Hurricane fighter in for a Spitfire.

He is one of 5 aces flying with 232 Squadron -- out of 22 aces total throughout the war.

These aces did not come by their kills easily either. Imphal was hit by a series of raids -- Zeros escorting bombers from Rangoon.

None of these pilots have been able to collect any kills in a month or so, because the Japanese have quit trying to bomb Imphal. I think 232 Squadron deserves a lot of credit for that.

I do not think we will be seeing him again since you own all of china and his group is stuck on the reinforcement screen. I have over 30 groups on there from China and the USSR.
