Im just about to get my first PBEM underway, but i cant start it up. im playing as japan.

I have sent my opponent the first file and he has returned his. I then put the file in the SAVE GAME folder. Easy enough right?

But when i load up the game and try to get underway it says it cant load the game.

Its probably something really stupid im doing.

Can someone help me please?

EDIT-If it helps heres a picture of what happens

Have you seen the "How to start a PBEM Game" thread pinned at the top?

Something similar happened in a UV PBEM although I didn't get a screen message as is shown (the loading screen just hung up for a long while and then reverted to the main menu).
What worked to fix was for me to delete the saved file and have my opponent forward his turn again. What did not work was for me to replace file with my opponent's resend.
Hope that helps

Looks like your opponent has just saved the game right before sending you. In PBEM both you and your opponent have to end your turn with the End the order Phase button (shortkey "E").

Other checks: passwords (both yours and his) and starting the game after selecting PBEM by tha gauge (first screen).

We never even got a chance to end the turn, seeing how its a historical first turn we're playing. And the computer asking for a password hasn't even come up yet.

This is weird. If I try to start a PBEM game with historical 1st turn on, I have to enter a password anyway.
