Hey Guys!

Ordered this today from Shrapnel Games. Anyone played it so far? I hope it's good. Kinda hoping it's as good as Age of Rifles which was a favorite of mine when I was a kid.

Oh it was almost like buying it on sale for me as a Swede. The dollar now costs 6.6 crowns and it's usually 9-10 crowns for a dollar. Great time to buy games from the US!

Happy new year!

Cheers
Dan

Nope, but please post your thoughts on it when you get it. Shrapnel are a lot less consistent than Matrix; they've published some great games (inc. Dominions 2 and Armored Task Force) but also some real dross as well.

Well I know what you mean and I must say that this is the first game I've ever purchased from them since so many of their games seem to be... (well I think you know what I mean). It sort of scares you from buying their games...

I have high hopes for this one though and I promise to post my thoughts here in about 1-2 weeks after getting/playing the game.

I've had the game for a week and have played a few battles. I really like the period and the game overall. It is very stable with only a couple inconsequential bugs. The AI isn't a Frederick the Great, but it isn't completely hopeless. It will take advantage of mistakes that the player makes, so it serves to keep you honest and paying attention. A patch with some improvements and the small bug fixes should be out in a couple of months and scenario pacs should be out fairly soon. If you are interested in this era and like turn based wargames, I would recomend it.

Any chance we can have a link for this game (Official Sites, where to purchase etc) This game sounds appealing!

You can order direct from Shrapnel *HERE*

Some other online retailers stock their stuff, too. I recall I bought Dominions 2 from Store4War (French) as they had it cheaper (and shipping was less).

I have an earlier version of this game, which includes many of the same scenarios and looks like the same engine/mechanics. The new version has much better looking graphics I must say.

I give it a thumbs up - easy to play, tough to master. Plus the historical setting is terrific if you want to fight a battle as the Prussian war machine.
