Well the eternal war between Wobbly and Herd begins again
(UV still going)
Just intend to give overview of happenings, mainly to help my own strategy.

This IS A WOBBLY FREE AAR AL!

Ive tried something totally different
Day one, KB smashes MANILLA, landings at Viga, Aparri usual phillipine places
Only 1 division and 1 brigade slated for the phillipines so far
Another to come from Hong kong, and another later

Thats 3 for there
2 divisions only head into Burma
Nearly every other unit west of formosa is slated for Malaya

And the remaining 4 divisions gather with the mini KB at Kagoshima
They will head due south, and with palua based forces hit Timor, darwin and PM.

KB will slide down south of the solomons and await.
She has only 1 task, find the enemy CVs

It is a risky strategy, but I want to achieve 2 things quickly, isolate the dutch east indies totally , and catch his CVs

PP points will be saved soley to pay for another division for the phillipines.
Lets see how it goes.

Day 2
Invasion at legespi interrupted by Houston
He moves planes to brunie
Aparri falls

My invasion fleets approach Malaya, and heavy air battles take place over Khota baru
I leave borneo alone so far
Troops continue to land phillipines
KB slides south
Southern invasions sail from Japan
Gilbert invasions continue, tarwana will be getting a visit I believe from wobbly quickly, so that will be KBs 1st port of call.
I concentrate all Nells at siagon
Next major invasion will be Jolo

PBEM is the only way to go.

3 days post

Day 3 troops continue to unload at Vigan
Today Wobbly sends the pensacola against the baker island invasion, sinks 1 AP, 2 pg, but troops ashore
Troops hit the beaches Khota Baru
Legaspi troops continue unloading
Big air raids on Malaya
Sank a sub near Vigan, lost an AP to one
KB moves towards JOLO as troops approach

Day 4
More troops unloading Phillipines
Sank another sub at Legaspi

And Wobbly committs a CV at Baker island
Goog old agressive wobbly, I am hoping he will cut loose there, as KB lurks there
Big Bettie raid on Manilla port, sinks 4 more subs, at least 13 gone now
I invade Makin
Khota Bharu falls, moving in aircraft

Day 5

Begin unloading Moriata
Dutch subs active off Khota Bharu
Enemy CV still near Baker island
KB hits ships at Tarakan, a big message that the phillipines will be cut off
Legaspi airfield operational, hits Manilla
Began unloading at JOLO, KB will cover, then head to Truk and south
Buckets of shipping fleeing due east from the phillipines, Mini KB will cross their paths tomorrow as it escorts the 4 division invasion fleet headed due south.

Invasion forces from Palua approach the Celebes , waiting on KB as she comes by to invade.

China, Im being very passive, saving Troops and supplies
Burma, just 2 divisions allotted, they will be a screen, Wobbly will already be nervous about that theatre thanks to PZB

Heavy Action around Menando, Wobbly attempts an intercept of shipping there, KB sends the Marblehead and De ryuter and at least 3 DDs to the bottom.
Lots of air action, as swordfish dodge my zeros (very dissapointing that) and torpedo an AP, 2000 troops now in peril!
Over at Baker another PG sunk by wobbly surface forces, and His CV stays around, really creaming the place
Mini KB hits many of the transports to the east of the Phillipines
Jolo falls, and lots of a/c move in
Malaya troops continue to pour in, Khoto Baru has heaps of planes now
Victoria point is attacked by the imperial guards

And a division seems to have gone "bush" marching North towards rangoon

KB is ordered to Palua, Mini KB to cover the invasion of davao

Wobbly is fighting very hard, and I spot at least 3 BBs headed towards Noumea, how will he fuel them?

Posts for 13/12, and 14/12

Well flashed up the turn for the 13th, and almost immediately a night intercept.
I was at the kitchen sink at the time, and CRIPES!!!, THATS KB on the screen!!

Then I see , KB vs DD Parrott.
Nagumo FLEES!!!
DD Parrott pursues!
DD parrott wears a 14 incher and sinks

Be still my beating heart, they were torpedoes you saw!

Mini KB pounds several AKs of the phillipines, and A dd Edsall
A tanker is sunk of rangoon as wobbly evacs fuel.
Hong kong down to 4 fort
Victoria point falls
KB moves towards ambonia

14/12

Menando falls
Davao invasion begins
His AVG is operating from Rangoon
Swordfish from Brunie cripple one jap DD
Hong kong falls
I consider the invasion plans still on track

The 4 divisions slated for the south continue down parrallel to the phillipines
Wobbly CVs have disapeared
Poo.

Yes, nothing like using paranoia, ltes face it, who in this forum isnt nervous as an allied player about India and Burma now?. So, I reckon thats several divisions I can use elswhere......like darwin and Port Moresby
Evil Cackle

15/12

began unloading near Ambonia, KB covers Ambonia, invasion arrives tomorrow
91 Sallies, 51 zeros hit Manilla, Im getting airfields on Phillipines up and running now
Davao forts to 1
Divisions are assigned to Balikapapan and tarakan, supplies going to Jolo
The 4 divisions headed south are level with Davao.
Im taking Ambonia, not for the oil, but to deny any airfield that may spot these 4 divisions as they crawl south.
Palua recieves buckets of fuel and supplies

Brunie invasion finally sails.
I await imperial division from Victoria point before I head towards singapore
China very quiet, really I hate the place

Wobbly CVs are south of Lunga
I send 111 Nell at Tarakan
Im in trouble at Davao, must send more troops
Amboina falls., Kendari next
The Darwin bound invasion regroups and heads south, will it be detected.

heart attack territory as a sub has a shot at Akagi, ooooooooooo, Id better move her
Can I capture rabual before his coming north CVs arrive, they are now near Tulgia.
Might be covering a convoy to lunga, but doubt it
Kendari has a lot of shipping in it, KB should deal with it

The phillipines seem to be settling in to the usual he will defend the triangle stuff
P40s in malaya, AVG?
A division begins to unload at cagayen
Malaya, still more troops enroute.

I still reckon wobbly is too good for me, but Ill give him a rattle and shake I hope

Glad to hear that I can be of assistance

Hm, invasion of Australia...that's good - but it will tie up units and not really get you anywere!?
Do you have a plan that includes delivering a knock out blow, or will you simply grab as much land as
possible? Just be careful so you don't over extend your units.

Watch out for the Dutch stringbags in the DEI - I spent my entire Norse curse vocabulary, and it's not small, on them.

Good luck, and good huntin'!

Im literally paranoid myself about B17s creaming my recently captured oilfields operating out of darwin.
I consider thursday island as critical.
And with those places in my hands Port moresby will be easier , not having to come around the corner.

That is the plan anyway
All going to pot already with a major problem being encountered at rabual
grrrrr

Don't worry too much about that - In our game, he hasn't even bombed my oil rich bases. The most valuable of them are also out of B17 range - and Zeros gives B17's a much better workover than in UV! So invading Darwin could be a little overkill. He would bomb your men in Darwin instead - and it would tie up a valuable division. (If you want to keep it that is.)

PM is always nice to eliminate - sounds like you're going for the a 'southern drive'! Think of Stalingrad and watch your flanks....

The grand sweep of this game I think is starting to take shape.
Wobbly sees a massive effort in Malaya, a few divisions only in Burma (im at the gates of Rangoon, but a single allied unit sits astride the supply lines- until 33rd division arrives tomorrow)
He sees a pretty big effort Phillipines, and the beginnings of an effort in Borneo.
He holds me at Rabual for a few days.
At Lea, a 4CL, CA task force last night sank my CL, 2 MSWs, but the troops got ashore.
SO- he is putting in a major rush forward into the Port Moresby, rabual, Solomon Triangle, lots and lots of ships in the area ( I sank a CA with a sub, and Im getting Glenn sighting reports everywhere) while he sees KB and forces are tied up in the DEI.
I am actually hoping he will now try to reinforce rabual and PM, Ive ordered the South Sea Detachment to do one deliberate attack, and then cry out that Im in the poo very badly. He will (knowing wobbly) probably try to kill my troops at Lea.
All of this leads to my plan, KB, Mini KB, 4 Divisions and auxillary troops to land and take Darwin, thursday island and PM, and cut him off.
At the least it MUST force him to battle, and that is crucial, a CV on CV battle this month.
I think Malaya will go quickly, the troops there to secure the DEI.

Today was a bad day, at Kendari 6 PT boats attacked, driven off, 2 sunk
He hit APs all over the place, just cant seem to close the right fields down, he moves nearly every day
Lets see, Cagayan fell, the invasion at Lea got hammered, kendari fell
Lost 2 subs as well
Im having one of those games where everything seems to be an unco ordinated mess

Continue to unload at davao
My troops seem pathetic compared to other games I read
Today Wobbly planes from all over the place continue to be a pest, 2 more APs torped today.
He has found the perfect use for P35s in the phillipines, naval attack at 100 ft, and they hurt!!!!
The Hong Kong division is unloading at Lingayen

Rabual, not even the South sea detachment can get the place, the attack did fail, disruption is horrific, a fast transport from truk is rushing more troops, Im that worried about the south sea detachment

The Darwin invasion fleet staems past Ambonia, still undetected.
To stay that way 2 BBs detach from KB, target Banda in the Timor island

23/12
PT boats attack the lingayen division, beaten off by a msw.
Im stalled at Rangoon, Davao, Rabual, Brunie.
What a mess
For all Allied players who decide just to pack up and run, take a leaf from Wobbly, his fwd, fight for everything defence is really hurting me, so many plans have gone to pot, that the grand plan is in danger.

Battle for Brunie
Wobbly fwd defence continues.
5 pt boats attempt to crash the party at Brunie, but loose one of their number under the guns of the CAs there.
2 survivors do slip in amongst the APs, and unexpectantly one of the APs hammers one under the waves
Wobbly air from various fwd bases keeps hitting my APs at various places
He is making me bleed

For excitement that is.
The war explodes today
Prince of Wales, Repulse, 4CL and 6 DD attack at Brunie
5CA, 5DD oppose them

A real slug fest ensues, torps flying both ways, and hitting, 14inchers going everywhere, and lots of 8 inchers going back
Im still trying to work out final score, CA Kumano is hurt (32syst 15flood), and a DD is blown away by a torp, I watched at least 2 allied DDs sink, and 1 cl

Air attacks from Jolo sink another CL and DD next day
The AVG enters the fray in Malaya, and shreds a Sally attack
I have no zeros in Malaya, and he has noticed
Worse an AO is hit at Kendari by LBA, and this is critical, the invasion of Darwin is unrolling, and a tanker loss throws all into severe doubt

Wobbly has his timing right, he evacs Davao, Brunie, and they fall to me at last
Admiralties occupied

The Darwin invasion has been spotted, KB finishes of a DD North of Darwin.
Again the fwd defence of wobbly is hurting.

The shambling attack continues
I had 3 APs torpedoed by subs today, this is very bad
The Darwin invasion approaches. As the place will be heavily forted and CD defended, Im going to try to land in a hex next to darwin, and march there.
Mini KB is covering
KB and 3 other divisions are now entering the timor straight area, headed toward thursday island and PM
Several BBs also are involved
Macassar continues to be a thorn in my side, so from Kendari has been stripped of all its fuel by 2 BBs, they will fix that thorn I hope!
In Malaya wobbly has 4 brigades at alor star.
My 3 divisions and 4 tank regiments shock attacked, losses were surprisingly slight, his heavy.
Forts went from 4 to 1, another one is ordered, and pursuit as well
The AVG dissapeared, I hit several other airfields trying to find him, hes moved again
rabual is seriously stalled
In the phillipines Im approaching Clarke, IM quite leisurly here, waiting for more PPs to get another division before we get serious
In Burma 1 division is at rangoon, a brigade is clearing the road in the hex to the east, and another division is departing Raeng?

The big question is where is his CVs, I almost suspect a visit to the indian ocean by them, if PZB has'nt permanently warped his mind abaout India, nothing will.
So im going to strike the heaviest in the solomons!

frustrated
Unloaded more troops into rabual
Lesson, never attack with out HQ support NEVER!!!
Wobbly gets his ships out of Darwin
I hit balikapapan again
Wobbly commits some AVG to malaya and savages my sallies and nates there. The oscars also bleed. He , as usual has noted very well where my zeros aint, and attacked.
The mini KB near darwin sinks 2 msw.
Alor star falls.
Still hung up at rangoon

Another AL trick, bought to you by PZB. I feel like Wobbly's second chance, everything he has learnt against him he can apply to me!!!

B17s operating from BUrma hitting my troops advancing on Rangoon.
Ouch!
I lose 2 APs today to his LBA, just cant cover it all
Rabual sucks, really stuck there, Im too exhausted to kick him out, and vice versa.
Rangoon forts to 3

Sent in 1cl and 4dd to clear out the pt boats at Kuching, got them
At balikpapan 2BBs and 4 DDs also account for some PTs before bombarding
Balikapapan airfield is hit by 167 nells operating from jolo
Malacca is the next target, most zeros in the area are on anti PT boat action
Way down south the southern invasion slides towards darwin

Began unloading at macassar today, a brigade is involved, hoping to clear a flank, and open up the macassar channel for future operations.
His martins attack me at Brunie, nasty pin ****s
In the phillipines I land at Dajangas
In Malaya the slow slug south continues
Ships entering Torres straight headed for PM, and unloading commences in the hex beside Darwin, avaiding the mines and fort guns, a lot slower, but far , far safer.

Wobbly continues the hold for awhile, then orderly retreat tactic on several fronts
In China all is very quiet
In malaya I capture georgetown
Taiping only has 1 brigade defending
In burma wobbly has 2 brigades pushed into moulieman?. Im not trying to exert too much pressure, I think Wobbly will just fight a little, then withdraw, so Im happy to let that happen at the moment
In Borneo still unloading at malacca, his subs and LBA are still drawing some blood.
In the phillipines my 38th division gets ahead of the pack, and is very rudely pushed out of Clarke, which is very heavily defended.
Im going to have big trouble here.

And a nasty shock for the new year
In China some LBA hit my shipping lazily doing nothing at Pecadores.
50 ships in the harbour, only 1 hit, the AD repair ship
BUggar, poo, double buggar!!!
At Darwin he appears to be bugging out, some wirriways attack, very ineffective
Subs attack at darwin
Macassar falls
The invasion fleet is scattered all over the place, invasion convoys, replenishment ships, BB task forces, KB, MinI KB, and the float plane carriers
Im really showing my skill-- NOT!!!!

Im unloading at miri

I tell em to bug out
I hit Rabual now with big raid of Betties from Truk.
His B17s are in action in Burma again
Ive unloaded another division at Naga, it enters manilla
2 divisions, 1 brigade in the phillipines now
4 Divisions in the southern operations
2 divisions Burma
Everything else is in malaya, and I mean everything!

B17s operating in Burma again, not very dangerous yet, but they scare the crap out of me long term
A wobbly deliberate attack in manilla fails, thankfully my division holds

begins to unfold.
Take malaya quickly and at little cost, then keep heading south down Java.
Isolate the DEI via Darwin, take the solomons quickly
Slowly take the phillipines, awaiting PPs to get another division for the final assualt there
Bluff in Burma
Hope like Hell his CVs try to stop the southern push, but know wobbly, I doubt it!
Began unloading at Thursday island
wobbly E mails me, reckons Im after Australia
At darwin lots of wobbly units streaming south, my troops march towards Darwin at a very satisfactory rate
Some Wirriways are about, but no real damage done
Quite a lot of air action in Burma, Im not committing yet.

wobbly bugs out of manilla, another good move.
Im happy to take the place without damage
China, I have a sq of Nates that refuse to stop strafing an airfield, may have to disband them to make em stop!
Betties hit rabual again
120 nells hit tarakan
manilla falls
Rangoon, Wobbly slips the net again, and successfully marches past my troops and gets away.
Basically all his troops got away in burma, which shows how good a player i aint.
Thursday island falls
2 divisions begin unloading North of PM, another approaches Gilli Gilli
KB covers it, Mini KB covers the PM invasion
Troops enter darwin tomorrow
Still crawing south as planned in malaya, troops at Kuala lumpar are resting while 3 brigades take that road from east to west coast, trying to cut off troops at kuala lumpar
I invite wobbly to come out and play
Now Im really worried, he says, OK!!!
