Hi, Just wondering if there would be any interest in a get together of Ohio players. (not to be outdone by the Aussies).
A party in Columbus or some where. We could meet and discuss the game over beer and pizza or something. I really enjoyed meeting a few of the folks at Gencon and would like to meet more.

Well I could do save a few Saturday's and Sunday's in the fall. Football games and weddings.

Hi, I guess. A few years ago I hitchhiked from New Orleans to Everett and it took 12 days.

Hi,
Now, why in the world would anyone want to leave New Orleans to go to Everett???!?!? That's like leaving Disneyland to go to prison!

(PS, for you Everett fans, it's just a joke)

Dayton is only 4 1/2 hours - but I have to drink Coke or Pepsi if I am going to be able to drive home to Southern Ilinois.

I could hop down I-71 and get to Columbus in a few hours. My college roommate lives in Columbus and I could visit with him too.

I live in Columbus, so count me in. I could even put up some people overnight.

I'm not a real active poster, but would love to meet other WitPers. Don't live in CMH anymore, but I'm an OSU alum and still do consulting for a company in Columbus. Post the date and I'll try to have an onsite "meeting" with my client that week. : )

With a little planning you guys could make it a Ohio WITP get together in New Orleans since Mardi Gras is soon (about 3 weeks or so)............. !!!

Of course this could be what the inside of your head looks and feels like when you wake up !!!!!

Hi, New Orleans is my favorite city. Been a Saints fan since Archie.
Many years ago before they fixed the place up I lived underneath the old Jax Brewery.
fed the ferrel cats SPAM and they kept the rats away. (In between the USMC and USN I was on the road for 4 years)
I worked the river, shoveled crap out of barges that were 140 degrees inside (the gunk that covers the bottom of fuel barges has to be cleaned out before the barge can be repaired) Worked as a waiter in several places. And played chess in Jackson Square for money. (I fed all the bums)
Of course now you can't do that any more because of the crack heads. Jackson Square closes at 8pm and you go to the house of D if they catch you sleeping in the park.
The French Quarter always reminds of an adult Disney Land. Other side of Canal Street is like Beruit.

Never been to New Orleans/Mardi Gras. Sigh. I guess I have to settle for the "girls gone wild" stuff.

Hi, I was in NO in that time frame however it was during port vists. My ship USS Halyburton FFG-40 was adopted by Baton Rouge during the first Gulf War. Afterwards we made a vist there and stayed in NO for a few days.
I was in New Orleans for some time in 98 while on another extended road journy. (went to Evertt Washington from New Orleans took 12 days to hitchhike. I left NO after a rather protracted battle one night with crack heads under the I-10 overpass on Canal Street. )
Have not been back since. I think it was in 98. I had stayed in Lake Charles a few years before. Went down with one of my biker bro's (Bear) We kept planning on going to NO but never made it. (was making money changing light bulbs on towers)
I have mixed emotions about Louisana. My brother was killed in an auto accident in Layfette in 89. (I won a chess tourny there in 88) I also won prize money in Alexandria while I was on the road. (on my way back from Lake Charles)
I've been both down and out in New Orleans and there with a pocket of money. (worked over 100 hours in Galveston as a steveadore in 1978 at 8.80 per hour (but then add in the time an half and double time) A much nicer place to be when you have jack.

Cool. Just so long as it had nothing to do with "Dick" Cheney's criminal former employer.

Yep, New Orleans can be a tough place. Stopped going to Mardi Gras when it became a contact sport. You either hate or love New Orleans almost instaneously. I guess I loved it as I fought off transfers until 1994. But as I said I always go back for Jazz Fest even though the crowds sometimes exceed the venue. It's a much more mellow time. But then I always come back to my beach.
