There is a PBEM game in progress but it was restarted owing to some technical hitches. I will do an AAR for it.

I think this company really needs to rebuild from scratch its communication strategy

Yeah, I agree. I think this company needs to re-think their entire approach to business. I have never heard of a company working so long on a single project unless it is contributing something special to the cause, which I don't think EiA is, other than converting a great boardgame to a so-so computer game.

Lets not forget Matrix isn't the biggest operation in the software world. Lots of these games are being worked on part-time by folks who have demanding day jobs. And some of these boardgames are just super tough to convert to the pc format and keep the essence of the game intact. I get frustrated at times too but there's lot's of good stuff out there to keep us busy.

Yes, they're not Microsoft, but I think anyone can devote five minutes to update the news on this forum. Else, if they havent got time they should have kept secret this project, and reveal all info one month before the release date.

Wow, such negitivism. I'm confident that Matrix is working to put out a quality game. And size doesn't matter, because, even though Microsoft is a huge corporation, they [MS] have put out some crappy games (full of bugs). I expect the developers of cEiA to put out a quality product that I will be satisfied playing for years to come as I have been satisfied playing the board game in years past

We once had a friend code the combat system for EiA. Just the combat system. It took about 300.000 lines of pascal code to get the system working. Once he had all the little details in like guard shift, reinforcement over river and so on, it went past 350.000 lines. Took him 4 months to write. Now think about how much time you have to spend to add in graphics and everything else.

This was just the combat system so we could skip the dice, rule chatter and calculator punching.

Any chance I could get ahold of it, or has it long been deleted and lost?

350K of lines?... Give me a break. There is a battle calculator (eiazdz) on

http://grognard.com/aides.html#d6

This is crap, but just 80K of code nevertheless. You can read for yourself what the battle engine looks like, it's in EIA rules. This is the simplest thing to code, just a subsystem of sequence of play which is what the game is. A tree-pass battle matrix with clearly defined equations for troops type, morale etc. Couple of objects in any language will handle that easy.
