Good day everyone,

I'm just returning to SP and the Lost Victories campaign in particular after some time away, and certainly some time since I've played any wargames that required realistic forms of strategy... :)

I've just started my third mission very badly (recon by death...) and feel very responsible for the untimely destruction of my recon SPWs.

Short of exiting and backing up the save file at the start of each scenario, is there another means of restarting a mission gone bad?

I will certainly try to rescue myself from this current mess, but am sorely tempted to cheat myself back to turn 1.

Thanks!

No shame in going back to turn one, at least for me. When I see things going from bad to worse, I start over. How many real battlefiled commanders have wished for such an opportunity!

This requires a little forethought. Whenever you exit a MC session, copy the saved game to another directory. So long as you do not rename the saved game, you can copy it back to the MC save directory and start from there. When I was playing a scenario, I would exit, copy and return to the game. I would name the saved game accorng to the sequence I was playing in the MC.

An example playing the 5th scenario going through Watch Tower, it is turn 18 of a 20 turn scenario, I exit the MC and copy the saved game to a directory I named "OpWT saves". I return to the game. When I start the Watch Tower MC again I name the session "OpWT 6a". I exit and copy the save after the scenario changes. Now if need to restart my 6th scenario again, I can go "OpWT saves" and copy the scenario out, and restart it.

Never rename the saved scenarios. Always copy the game you exit. Always exit before playing the first turn of a new scenario. This will also create a good record for using with Campaign Watcher.

For no other reason, this makes making a backup copy worthwhile. It's fun watching the development of your troops. I wasn't sure how to do it with a megacampaign. Thanks for the tip!
