Sorry Harrer I have a win 98 machine and I have crashed on save even after hitting save walking away from computer and coming back after dinner. Sadly for your fix it takes me more than 5 seconds to eat

It doesn't happen often so I don't really care. I would much rather see aircraft repair rates the same for full size and broken down units than a fix to crash after save and that one is coming so I am happy.

imho, price at $120 would be fair.

$70 is a garbage

Come, on people, can any one tell me this game is worth the price!!!! How can you explain a 70 dollar (90 for a poor canadian like me) price tag for a game. Until there is a price drop im just going to complain and complain and complain.........

You obviously don't know what you are talking about
I used to 'consume' a game per month.
Since WitP came out I bougth two more games and I haven't even played them yet, I dedicate all my spare time to WitP.

If they asked me to pay for patches ... I would, and happily so.

Best game ever and I've purchased over a hundred in the last years!
Of course if you are a 'C&C' player I guess you'll be disappointed

<Smug mode>I just have to love the currency exchange rates </Smug mode>

The price was high enough for me to think about it, but not high enough to put me off...and it's an investment I'm glad I made. I've spent more on a night out, for crying out loud!

You might consider that it will take you thousands of hours to play from 12 7 41 to anytime in 1945 at 1 turn per day... so is the money the problem? if you play it, this game probably is the LEAST expensive per time spent, maybe you should ask a different ? other than can I afford it, as in ; " can I afford the time?"

Why on earth would people buy an over-priced Volvo over a less expensive Hyundai? They're just cars ... right?! As you can see from the responses, the perceived value that folks have for the game is significantly more than the price. If you're interested in military history, enjoy planning and managing operational-level warfare, and can devote months to playing the game, then the value far exceeds the price. However, if you prefer games that don't meet all criteria above, then the price far exceeds the value.

WiTP is so deep (and I don't mean the Marianas Trench!) that I doubt that it can ever be completely mastered... there will always be a new tactic or strategic vision that someone can exploit. Anyone who reads the forums cannot help but be impressed with the detail (and yes the griping and nit-picking that goes on) in this game. You could write a small book just on invasion tactics! Every time I come here there is another interesting thread raising new ideas.

It is the best $70 ever spent if you are at all interested in wargaming.

Same here.
It has taken years of game playing and thousands of dollars to finally find
the best strategic war game period.

As I tend to point out to people, this game is cheaper then the Sims or SimCity. Just because it costs more then a silly FPS like HL2 which takes 40 hours to finish really doesn't mean much. Anyone finished WitP yet?

I've never understood all the hoopla about The Sims....I have all the reality....virtual or whatever...i can stand. Besides...they dont have a beta tester template in it.

The digital download is about the same price as alot of boxed games in the stored in Australia.

I paid $120.00 for pacwar when it was released. I kept playing it for years. I will keep playing WiTP for years. In terms of value for money it is a good price for a pices of software that was a number of years in development.

Some games I have paid $80-$100 only spent 1 month if that on my hard drive.

I agree!

This topic has been battered to death!

Audrey Hepburn lived in Arnhem during the war. She ran away from a German work detail, and hid out for three weeks. Some actors can be real people. Not just pretenders.

She saw some of her friends killed by the Nazis,so she started working for the underground, distibuting leaflets,etc..This was before she became a "star"..
Her life was as surprising as was Julia Chiles's...

Yes, WITP price is high compared to the average videogame.
BUT How long did you play the average game? One week? Two? One month? I bought WITP 4 months ago and I am still playing (and enjoying) it.

welcome to the forums invernomuto, resistance is futile. Just make sure your transports do not have the 'do not unload' button toggled.

Ya know....I really waited quite a bit before I bought WITP. I remember 5 years ago when I first found this website and d/l the PacWar updates. I waited and checked....waited and checked. Then I saw it was finally done and released. Then I saw the price....YIKES was my first thought. But to be honest. I paid 89.99$ for PacWar...still have the box with the sticker on it...that was in 1994 or 1995. Been so long I cannot even bloody remember. Considering I got 10 years outta that baby....9$ a year is NOTHING. WITP is 1000x better than PacWar so the 120$ (Canadian), btw I got the physical shipment as well, is a bit steep to start but like any good investment will pay for itself over time.

I dont even want to work out the $ per hour ratio....because considering the hours spent on PacWar its less than a penny per hour.

PLUS you get all the support from Matrix....the terrific Modders....and the nuts on this Forum

Hey, jjax, it's not Matrix's fault the socialists have ruined your economy up there, thus
depriving the citizens, on average, of the wealth they would otherwise have (and thus
be able to more easily afford $70 for a great game). Quit voting for the idiots, then
you'll have more money. hehe :)

And, as has been pointed out, WitP has such depth and replay value that $70 is really not
a lot to pay for that kind of quality. Also, considering that deep wargames like this appeal
to a fairly limited number of gamers, it is necessary to have a higher price per game to compensate
for the lower volume of sales that one will get with a game like this. Compared to something like
DOOM III that will sell in huge numbers.

Well, I bought Hearts of Iron 2, probably the best mainstreamish WW2 strategy game on the market, about a month ago, and I don't play it much anymore. And not because I don't like it, its a very good game - but WITP is vast. I think I'll be playing my game with SPrior till I'm old and grey.

So yeah it's worth the cash. And I live in poverty, so.

...I must add that I didnt like UV much. I felt the map was far too limited, your tactical choices almost nonexistent, the game having several annoying features (which WITP seems to have fixed in the main).

But I think WITP rocks. Much, much better than UV.

YOU'RE RIGHT! IT'S NOT WORTH THE 80 BUCKS (US)! It's worth a lot more than that!
Going to the movies will cost you 3-5 dollars an hour for entertainment. WITP is already
down to less than 40 cents an hour for me, and still going strong. The only potential
downside is that if you are married it may also cost you a divorce.
