I cannot save "Combat Save File001". I turned Historical game turn 1 off. I save my turn when I am done and go to "Save File002 "fine. Then I open the game Save Scenario game file and 002 is fine but 001 failed to save my turn... What i"am i doing wrong???????? Iam trying to play Scenario 5. I have done what the manual said, as well as posting my issue on this web page but it still does not respond. I have version 1.21. Please help i am about to give up.

You don't save 001, it is produced automatically. You only do your normal save at the end fo the turn in any slot greater then 001.

Japan loads and starts scenario, makes moves, ends turn and saves in slots > 1

Allied player gets that turn and makes their moves and ends turn, saves.

Japan player gets that save back and the turn runs the very first time. This *produces* the 001 save.

From now on, Japan sends both the normal file (whatever slot you picked above) + the 001 save so the Allied player can watch the turn replay.

But don"t i send "Combat File001' with "File 002" (my turn) So the American player can see what happened in my player turn? I understand that "File 001" is automatic save but doesn't the American player have to veiw my turn. (as far as he can see)?

Yes, but there is no 001 file for the first turn of the game. The first turn resolution happens at the start of the second turn.

When I sent my opponent the my side (second player turn) File004 the one i used to save the turn was last modified the time i saved it, when I looked in the save folder. But once again File001 Combat File the one I also need to send for the first time was not modified to show the correct time (now). I understand about autosave but should this file show modified time now as well? ( It shows a time of last year when I first loaded the game). Ended my turn with the end orders button, then that took me to the save game screen. What I"m I doing wrong?

It is possible the permissions on the file have gotten screwed up ... are you using the same user that you installed with?

Rename the 001 file to get it out of the way then rerun the turn to see if it creates it properly.

Slow down a tad, you've tried one thing and it didn't work. We aren't dead yet.

Send me your save file so I can see that it actually is you. This would be the file you got back from the Allied player.

Ok, just went through what would seem to be the *exact* same problem with Roger.

It looks like it is specifically a problem with Windows XP running in Simple File sharing mode.

The default permissions for the directory when patched don't seem to like being patched so certain files get stuck and the patch fails silently.

Easy fix, let me know when you have some time and I'll get you up and running.

Mr. Frag, if I do not have sharing on for any drives/folders/files on my computer then I should never have this problem? This is a sharing problem?

No, it is a file permissions problem, not a sharing problem. With the standard install being NTFS filesystems these days, you have permissions whether you want them or not.

The simplest solution is to install the game to C:\Program Files\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific instead of C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific

The other way is to break the inherit setting from C:\ and grant the group Everyone full access to C:\Matrix Games and all sub folders/files.
