Hi there,
I'm not really expecting much support, because this is in a 1.4 game patched to 1.5, but I just had about 80% of a Japanese Brigade I was shipping to an invasion site spontaenously unload in an ocean square...

I'm having my opponent send the turn file to me again, just in case it got corrupted in e-mail.. Its kinda funny to speculate what horror drove 80% of my invasion force to fling themselves overboard..

Anyway, I'm just curious if anybody has had this problem in the past, and/or was there a work around??

I'm not that worried because 20% of the unit is still on board, so they can go home and rebuild over the next 6 months or so, but it does delay my invasion schedule a bit...

This is probably a bad thing, huh?

Maybe yes... Maybe no...
I don't actually know what will happen to the troops.. Will the database clean them back into the ships? Will they drown on the spot? Will they just stay there, unable to walk anywhere (I tried, it says unable to trace supply route..), unless they starve to death...

I've been afraid to push the finish turn button, but if the re-sent turn still has this problem, I guess I'll have to.. Loosing 80% of a Brigade (and 100% of an NLF force) isnt' worth a re-start... I'll just hope that future bugs are evenly distributed to the US as well... :)

I'll let everybody know what happens...

Exactly where is this hex? Do you play with hexsides and hexside effects on? Is this a modified map? Was this a destination hex for the TF as a sort of "waypoint" to where you wanted them to go?

A screenshot would be helpful. There's a strong chance that this is one of those hexes that has a very small amount of land in it.

Its a deep blue ocean square, South of Eniwitok, and West of Kuajalain (forgive the spellings)..
I'm at work, I'll try to post a screen shot later on..

Its definetly ocean blue, deep, no land... the Transport task force was set to unload (I didn't set that for the ocean), and I can toggle it between unload and cancel, but not load..

There is a surface group in the same hex, and a replenishment group.. So three naval task forces, and now Japanese land in the lower right corner of the hex.. I can even click on it, and see its got the 5th element of the brigade (about 80%) of the total..

Unmodified map, no mods of any kind ever, 1.4 start, patched to 1.5 about 1 week ago.

This hex was set as a waypoint, as the surface escort was low on fuel, and so I dispatched the replenishment group to fuel 'em up... But a waypoint deep in blue water land... Actually, only the replenishment TF had a hex set, the rest were set to follow that group, to insure that everybody would meet up...

I wouldn't be afraid if there was land there, I could just reload the troops...

It was a big group too, designed with 400 load points per ship to allow rapid unloading, now biting me on the hinney..

hit your 1 key to turn on the terrain overlay. What is the letter code for the hex?

As you suspect, its Ca.. But its completely blue, with no red or green dot.. And no neighbouring land.

I looked around, and there are a couple of others like this, but they are mostly 1 space away from nearby islands in the Gilberts and Marshalls...

Anyway, its seems I just chose badly the hex for the fleet to meet...
But it its allowing me the option to load them now, it will just take a while, I suspect....

Wonder if it's one the hexes modded to allow the first turn Japanese invasions? Either way it's a timely reminder to quickly toggle on the terrain overlay before selecting mid-ocean waypoints - something I tend to use quite a bit as the pathfinding routine tends to regard enroute opposing bases as magnets.
