I just finished my first scenario 1 against Allied AI. My score was just 6k (Allied marginal victory). Is it possible to win scenario as a japanese player?

I want first to practice my tactics before engaging allies in Grand campaign. There I will try a litlle bit different strategy then IJN in WW2. This is great game, but I think it would be good if player have complete control of forces and production. I mean, player should be able to use "special atack" kamikaze units from the begining of the war. It would much more interesting... for Japanese player anyway:)

Im my personal case, I play only once as Japanase against AI anw won by 1/1/1943.

The AI is just broken, when it uses its naval power. If you can threaten really Australia as i did , the AI will send the whole fleet to defend. And by 1942, you will have no real difficulty to sink USN and Australian Navy.

But scenario ends in 03/17/1942.

I try this scenario (first in game after tutorial) for second time and draw against AI. I take Hong Kong in 12/15/1941, Singapore 01/03/1942, some other bases in the meantime and Trimcomalee 03/03/1942 and still made score of 6460 or close. AI had about 200 less. Unfortunately Repulse and Prince of Whales avoid being sink by my air force. I hit BB Prince of Whales several times with more then 15 bombs each time but i didn't penetrate his armorAnnoying.

Play the bigger scenarios and youīll see that you kill off the AI. I started in 5/42 and am now in 12/42 and have a score of 40000/7000 against AI and Iīm not that agressive itīs just that AI does such stupid things. Attacks most of the times with unescorted heavies (isnīt that this hard to change?), sends AKs and APs directly to Noumea which I occupied months ago, places slow moving boats in surface an air combat TF, isnīt able to do something in land combat (even if it outnumbers you it doesnīt move the troops and you can pick up one city after another in India or China),.....

Nevertheless itīs still fun playing although Iīve shot down 500 to 600 B17 over Gili Gili which came in unescorted in raids of 20 - 30. What can you do to help Ai? Abandon the bases AI wishes to attack????? I think you canīt do a thing.

actually I think thats a bit historic for 1942, though I'm not sure if that was intended in the programming

Now the question is, if they would have sent raid after raid historically (several a week) with small groups just to get slaughtered every time or (if itīs so important to beat a base like Gili Gili) wait some time and then send in a large raid. I think if US would have lost houndreds of B17 over Gili Gili in a few months they would abandon these attacks. And not after losing 500 B17, no, after losing 20! They would just say: "Hey, itīs too dangerous to attack this base, last time we did an attack we lost 14 of the attacking 20 bombers, 4 were damaged and the attack didnīt come through the CAP! Just stop these crazy attacks!" But AI doesnīt because itīs programmed that B17, B24 and B29 attack also without fighter cover. I know it was intended to get historical unescorted heavy bomber raids, but what you get is UNHISTORICAL, CRAZY, WEIRD, DUMB attacks.

This should be changed, because the AI just sends out bomber after bomber to get shot down. And as I said, if you play AI, the only thing you could do is abandon the base. But Iīm tired of complaining, itīs just one point and there are many other crazy things and bugs. I played it for a long time and itīs worth the $70 but I think itīs time to go on to another game.
