There is only one objective. My troops must assault the hill fortress manned by the Arverni, Vercingetorix's own tribe.

The fort has three entrances, one East and two on the North side. The 1st Artillery unit includes one Scorpion (giant crossbow), one catapult, one veteran unit of archers and veteran unit of slingers. My plan is to hold the East gate while breaking through both North entrances. The Scorpion, catapult and slingers support the main advance while the archers will help Legio IX fortify the East gate.

I begin by moving units forward. Contact at the East gate. Surprisingly, a unit of the Nervii tribe advances towards Legio IX.

My archers are vulnerable and I move to protect them. The Nervii decided to retreat back into the fort. The Scorpion begins to inflict damage on the defenders near the hole in the wall on the North side. The enemy decides to make another sortie with a unit from the Atrebates tribe.

Legio X, Caesar's own, to protect my slingers and make the Atrebates pay. My Scorpion continues its bombardment and Legio XI and the German Auxiliaries move towards the North gate.

I am able to penetrate the small break in the wall and get behind the defenders. Meanwhile, at the East gate, my men kill 900 tribals without losing a man.

On the East side, I order a halt and taunt the defenders to attack. A enemy unit suddenly appears on my left flank and threatens the rear of Legio IX. On the North side, both the defenders guarding the small break are routed with help from my Scorpion. I continue to use my catapult and slingers to bombard while slowly moving my infantry closer.

At the small North hole, the defenders are still routed and run away so I can use my troops to support the action at the main gate. After watching the computer move, I found out that infantry can climb over the walls. I decide that Legio X will climb instead of trying to squeeze through the gates. Enemy archers make their pressence fel by killing 600 of my slingers. At the East gate, I continue to hold on but have to deal with that unit in my rear. The archers have to withdraw to get out of the way.

I make a decision not to chase any routers and just push towards the objective.

I notice that some of the enemy is from the Viromaudi tribe. They will pay. I move units through the gate and over the wall making it impossible for the enemy to concentrate on one area. The enemy archers kill 300 cavalry but my infantry reaches them and drives them backwards.

I can use Legio IX, at the East gate, to herd the enemy towards Legio X and crush them in between. Most of the cavalry is inside the fort and they can run wild in the enemy fort while doing some recon for the infantry. Eporerodrix is the first tribal to be eliminated.

Legio IX uses their pilums to kill 1200 more barbarians while Casticus is eliminated through melee. The rest of my army begins to finish up the weakened opposition and move towards the objective.

My catapult is threatened by a formerly routed unit that has returned to the battle. I do not think I have mentioned it before but the catapult and Scorpion are deadly if you can protect them and find a good firing position. Whew, the catapult successfully defends and eliminates Galba. Legio IX is a bit of trouble as they are being attacked from several directions. Legio X moves to help. The enemy leader Cigetorix is killed meaning that unit will be less effective.

Have to play rally card on Publius Crassus as his morale is very low. Pays off immediately as he successfully defends without losing a man while killing 400. More good results near the East gate means that Legio IX is no longer in danger so Legio X can march towards the objective. Inside the fort, Galatus is killed and all his men killed. I am getting worried as turn 20 is approaching fast.

Legio IX and my archers are still in a swirling battle near the East gate but they are holding. They cause 1600 deaths through gladius, arrow and pilum. Farther inside, my cavalry reports that more enemy appears seeming to come from the objective area. They must have gotten word to send help.

Legio IX inflicts 500 more casualties and causes three routs. The East gate is finally secure. Except for a few mop up fights, the rest of my army hustles towards the objective. My forward units spot four enemy units, equipped with swords, clustered around the flag. The terrain is also slightly higher near the flag so artillery is needed.

The German Auxiliary cavalry and Roman cavalry keep the free ranging enemy units occupied while Legio X and Legio XI assault the objective. This is why I saved my pilums. The catapult, Scorpion and slingers move into position. My men spot slingers from the Catuvellauni and Cantium tribes are up on the fortress wall.

Have to play rally on Julius Caesar as I need all available units for the final assault. My troops inflict 2000 more deaths on the units around the objective. Legio IX continues to clean up around the East gate. Those damn slingers kill 900 of my men. More units that routed before turn up reformed in my rear. I already have a few of my soldiers back there and they can hold them off for a few rounds.

Pressing the attack. While my offensive devastates the objective defenders, I lose 900 more men to the enemy slingers. The objective has been cleared. I have to move a few units to help out my threatened catapult.

I cause three routs around the objective and my catapult eliminates two of them. Caesar is forced to withdrawal as he loses 300 more men to the enemy slingers. Benedict, on of my German Auxiliary leaders, is killed again. Objective one is captured but I did not get a chance to use them. I was going to curse Koios Works until I realized that strategy cards carry over from battle to another.

Another major victory and my prestige is up to respected. I decide to tackle the encroachment of German tribes, led by King Ariovistus.

AS you can see, I choose to take Legios IX, VII, VIII, X and XII. Some of them needed to be brought up to full strength or re-enlisted. It is a good mixture of units with various combat experience. Already have three health cards so I only buy 3 more rally cards.

Drive the Germans into the Rhine. I have a feeling that I will be facing good cavalry in this battle.

I deploy all my cavalry on my right flank. There are two small hills in front of the two flank objectives. I expect the enemy to be either on top or behind them. They can be used to my advantage if I can get my troops on them.

Right Flank - Bit of a stalemate as I am not going to make frontal charge veteran cavalry even with elite units. Maybe I can wing around and hit them from the rear. Off to the left is infantry from the Suebi tribe. The Germans do not wait and charge with loses on both sides. Play rally card on Titus Balventius for an advantage against further attacks.

Left Flank - More cavalry and infantry appear. Publius Consideus (Legio X) has to use his pilums to clear the cavalry in front of him. Ariovitus charges and is eliminated.
