Im excited about the game and am behind you all the way, keep working till its done, I will be here.

My main question is, do you think that out of the box, the game will be a fairly good challenge to the casual football fan? That is, those of us that are more interested in the league/career aspect as opposed to the play/profile making guys. Im sure there will be plenty of user made plays and profiles available to keep everyone stocked up.

I loved FootballPro, but was not really good at or all that interested in playmaking and setting up profiles. I just love to run leagues...play commissioner. I've always wanted a "Pro Football League Construction Set"....MaxFB is surely looking to be the answer.

Again, thanks to you David for all the hard work, and also to Matrix for joining the party.

I think this will offer a tremdous amount to the casual fan. This game should offer enough to keep the casual fan entertained with drafts and player signings as well as the play calling and coaching.

Does this mean a financial model is being added?

For those of us who have followed this game for 3 years and have commished in numerous FBPRO (95,97,98) Leagues, (not to brag but getting to a point), I am somewhat confused as to how you can enjoy being a comissioner of a league and not be involved in playmaking and especially setting up coaching profiles specifically within the league you commished. I am not trying to offend you I just don't understand the logic behind what you posted.

I think everyone here appreciates the hard work that David is doing and has for many years. Everyone knows he is a individual programmer an it takes time especially with the addition of a career mode within the game. I wish him the best as I always have. Maximum Footbal will be a great success.

Oh.. Maybe player signings was the wrong way to put it. But you're selecting players off of a free agent list.

In some leagues, the commissioner cannot own a team, but he runs the league. That's not how my league has run things, but some people don't want to GM and coach a team. I can respect that.

I agree. David is expending a part of his life on this project, and I hope it is a huge success!

First, I wasnt specifically talking about online leagues, as I mainly play solo. I've run continuous solo leagues from FBpro96, to Madden02-04. Actually, as far back as Microleague Football:Coaches Challenge.

I usually do also own a team in the league.

I have commished a FBpro league where I did not own a team, and it was every bit as fun as when I have owned one. Really, if you have any sort of decent site devoted to a league, you would have plenty to do without worrying about roster moves and gameplans.

David,

Without financials how are free agents "bid" on. Does the cpu not pick up fa's? Does the user just pick and choose as it pleases?

The CPU does select FA's based on their attributes. But there is no bidding per se. They're selected as required.

Is there some sort of "team order" for selecting free agents (like by current standings) or is it possible for me to swoop in and pick up all the "top" free agents and easily build a super team before the CPU can delve into the FA pool? Also when you say "as required" does this mean they only look to the FA pool when, let's say, injuries occur, or will the CPU actively seek to improve it's team at each position?

Thanks for the answers.

Sounds very much like the old FPS Football system to me, at least regarding franchises/gm'ing - you know the saying, "Everything old is new again"...

...hope I'm wrong...but with franchises not being made much a priority from the get-go, I fear I am not...

That's why league rules and a good commish are needed.

It's too bad E.A. Gelat wasn't recruited early on to modify his commish programs for this game. That would really have helped.

I agree, but for us single players it really sucks.
