Nope. Waiting for the game to get to EB or Gamestop. It was supposed to have been on the shelves a week ago. Looks like GGWAW was more the rule than the exception.

Played the demo, it looks incredible but I have one major problem that might kill the game for me after reading the forums. There is no campaign world conquest mode? Everything Ive read its simply scenario based and limited to parts of the map? If thats true ugh!

As far as I understand it, as you win each scenario, you progress to bigger and bigger maps, until you are placed in world conquest mode.

From the game FAQ:

quote:

GAME PLAY

1-can I play on world map?

Yes. There is intention of 2 world maps. One with the world split into 16 regions to fit the campaign storyline. On this map however you are playing as a “United Africa” or “Conquered North America” so it has little to do with the world as it is today. The second version of the map would have 16 player regions and 15 AI regions with all remaining areas of the world as “World Market”. Full details of this map have not been decided.

2-does the scenario has the goal?

Depends on the scenario. Also depends if you are playing a Scenario, a Campaign or a Mission map. Mission maps have very distinct goals. Scenarios usually do not have goals. Campaign maps may have “sub-goals” but the Campaign goal of becoming Supreme Ruler by any means necessary is the underlying goal at all times.

3-Can I play real country or I play only "Victoria", "N. California" etc states i saw on your screenshots?

Again, depends on the country and the map. Many countries can be played as a united country at some point in the game.

4-is it real time playing or move based game? If time, can I switch the speed?

The game will support both real time and turn based gameplay. In real time speed options exist for pause/slow/normal/fast. For high end systems the existing speeds can be doubled. In turn based mode, turn resolution is simultaneous

5-Can I edit my own scenarios? maps? names of countries, leaders etc?

The Map editor will be included in the release version but this will only be able to make Scenario maps. Campaign and Mission maps will be exclusive to the game.

6-Can I win if my country has no nature resources? Or only goal is getting my borders wider?

The Goal depends on the map but you will often find that a number of resources will need to be purchased from the World Market or other players. Alternatively, conservation or synthetics can be used to meet demands. Expanding borders is however an effective way of “gathering resources”

7- Am I occupying land step by step, city by city or how?

Although not shown by default, the map is hex based. Hexes can contain one element (city, base, industry) and some elements cannot be built directly adjacent to each other. Land is conquered hex by hex.

Still no sign of it in any stores though. They are getting a bit grumpy about too @ the SR2010 forums.

It's on ebgames.com. Not pre-order, either, as far as I could see.

I saw it today in NYC (EB below 14th and Bway). Didn't pick it up, so that one copy is probably still there...

I think you're supposed to select turn-based or real-time mode in scenario or mission selection, i.e. BEFORE you begin the game.

Tried the demo (blindly - just hacking around) but I played Washington, put everything I had heading for the southern border with Oregon, and then declared war. Wow... screenshots cannot convey the experience of this one. Not really sure if I have the time to get into this one the way it deserves, but it has got to be in my collection!

Hi, I am running Montana. This game would be a gas if every state had a human running it.

Hi, I would like to get a practice multi player game going. Anyone interested? (The demo can play multi with other demo versions but the demo version will not work with the retail version)

So what's the verdict? I would have bought it without a second thought had it been in stores on time. Now that I've had time to think, I'm considering something else. Is the game good?

This game is definitely deep. BUT, it's not too hard to get a grip on. You have ministers you can delegate to certain aspects of your empire, or you can do it yourself. You can also let them do it but assign them priorities which is what a lot of players do.

The game is very interesting. The developers are absolutely top notch as far as customer service. They answer every question in the forums and even when someone bitches about something, they thank them for their input, and try and explain what is going on or what will be fixed in those situations. Just top notch....I'm a 20 year gamer and they have had the best customer service I've experienced. The game took 5 years and they are continually going to add units, add more features...its a labor of love.

One of the negatives is that the other AI's wont do much with you diplomatically. This is just the way most of the scenarios have been set up, more for aggression. I modded some files and was able to make alliances, trades, etc. They are releasing a second update next week to make the A.I. more ammenable to work with and sliders to make them more peaceful or aggressive at the start of the game depending on what the player wants.

Sorry to gush so much...I just love finding small developed games which have so much depth and such excellent customer service and am trying to get the word out for more people to give the game a go.

Been playing the demo quite abit. And even the demo is quite a game in itself.

There are sooo many aspects of this game to remain focussed on. For example: during battle if you want to change your production queues to a completely different unit then clicking and selcting isn't the end. You must wait for the factories to complete a retooling phase. such detail like this in everything.

Each unit can be individually trained. specializing in mountain ops, urban, jungle, or just plain manouvers to boost their effectiveness. A fair bit of point and clicks, and roster tracking. Best to rename this now elite unit cause 42nd national gaurd doesnt do it justice.

The economy and commerce covers 9 different commodities to deal with.

Wars can drag you long into a collapsed economy. Ofcourse the game is meant to be realistic this way. Nothing like having your Abrahm regiments and lav 25 battalions stall two tiles from Reno in the middle of the desert. Blitzkreig tactics work well initially but consolidation is hard to acheive as the AI rarely commits to a peace treaty.

True the forum mods answer questions quite readily. I keep playing hoping I'll get a complete handle on all these minute menu options and details.

Ya, it's fun fighting state to state....in the Pac NW scenario I have to be, of course, Washington (living in Seattle) but in the default scenario the other states pretty much hate Washington and attack me way too much....so I changed the scenario files dealing with state relations so they all love me and now I can build up and attack whenever I want and teach those pansy states a lesson!

Hi, I have the economy part down fine. But everytime I get in a war it's dog pile on Mogami. I got beat up by Wyoming while I was clobbering Kansas (I was Colorado)
Utah joined in. Then Nebraska (cutting off my Army in Kansas)
Missiles rained down and I hit the "quit" button.
In the economy I went from 1.600mill in bank at start to paying off a 14.000mill bond and having 9.00 mill in bank in a lttle over a year.

I can't get the other states to sign any kind of treaty no matter what I offer.
This is an awesome game. Shows the how and whys of Nations and wars. Why Empires always need to expand and why it is so hard to remain a peacful nation if your neighbors are going without. (Beans are cheaper then bullets but if you can't grow or buy beans you will resort to bullets)

I'd still like to try a multi player online game. At least 4 humans (Lets gang up on the AI)
