Anyone else think its time to finish the game and call it quits. I mean fix the last remaining bugs and just happily play the game.

As someone who has complained as much as anyone I think we've reached the point of diminishing returns with new features. Like every other wargame in history this one fails to model reality perfectly. So what. Its still a wargaming monument and a fantastically fun game.

I think at this point I think I'd just like to play my campaigns and not be bothered by more new features and tweaks to the model (and the bugs that come with these changes). Plus I'd like to see them working on War in Russia.

Count me in!
Squash the bugs, and forget about player induced gripes.

Yes, I'd be very happy if from now on only bug fixes are the goal. If there will be any development beyond 2by3/Matrix this may change, of course.

My wish list includes...

I don't think Matrix intended to add any new features after 1.5. I'm happy that they included the variable upgrade on aircraft. It was more than I'd hoped for.

I also take seriously their comments that the code is now so complicated that adding/fixing bugs is likely to create other problems.

With this in mind.. I'd be happy for just the bugs to be fixed at this point.

Although.. what will we talk about anymore??!

Moses! Moses! Delivering again! (that was two large, one combo, one pepperoni)

Couldn't agree more.

What bugs do we know of that remain in 1.50 and really need to be addressed? Sometimes, I think, stuff gets called "a bug" that isn't really, and there may be some that have such a small effect that they ought just to be left as is (to avoid the possibility of screwing up something else).

There are still some bothersome leader leaks, but Mike has corralled them to the point where maybe not much more needs to be done. We are still seeing ship commanders disappear (including from ships not yet in the game), pilots commanding merchant ships, and the occasional W.O. on a submarine. There seems to be less of the side crossover than there used to be, but the most advanced of the games I currently am involved in is not later than mid-January '42, so it could change later (I thought I noticed a tendency to accelerate back in the 1.30 and 1.40 days).

The torpedo bomber thing needs to be looked at seriously, I think, even if it just turns out to be the combat results display. There's somethink kooky in there. Also, in the combat animations, when torpedo planes are attacking, you get occasional bomb-like explosions on the ship and no damage. Anyone else see this?

Auto-convoy may never work right (and never really did), but I never used it anyway, so I don't care. Frag said awhile back that fixing it could screw up other things that were fixed before, so I dunno. I suggest just letting it die, even though I know that there are some players who would like to use it.

I still occasionally get the display for a Japanese sub-group of Nates when I move a British squadron (seems to happen most frequently with one of the British Hurricane squadrons), but it goes away and doesn't seen to hurt anything. So, if it's not already apparent to Mike what the problem is there, I'd say to hell with it.

What else? Anyone? Anyone?

Really, I guess, my two biggest concerns are that I don't want to have to restart again - ever- because of a new patch, and I don't want any more new patches that have to be re-patched to fix what broke in the patching process.

Thanks for starting this thread, moses, in all seriousness, this is some of the best sense that has ever been talked on these forums.

"get going with War in Russia. "

You guys can go pound mud... I'd rather fly over palm lined beaches any day...

Actually I agree with the sentiment of Moses' post, except that I'm not much interested in War In Russia. Naval warfare has always been my baby...

in the words of the chinese divisions "hip hip hurray!"

the only bug that i am still worried about is the carrier pilot/sorties bug. I am trying to find the thread to see where they are on that (well, i'm not looking RIGHT now)

Yes....time to move on to WIR and such future goodies as the evacuated east of the Urals factory bug, the disappearing Black Sea Fleet bug and the Bug River bug.

No problem as long as I can get my Su-152s into the field early.

I've seen the bomb explosions on ships without anything in the narrative scrolling below it since the game first came out. I was always under the impression that these were FOW and falsely reported hits.

Bugs? Units don't load properly on ships sometimes. There's still the ghost TF problem. I recombined one of my divisions finally from v1.4 and found that it immediately swelled to twice its intended TOE! Those three occur to me right away, and I've only played twenty turns with Mogami so far, and less with Joe in my first PBEM game. No doubt other stuff will crop up.

Units have never loaded properly on ships unless you take it one unit at a time. It's a big pain in the butt, but it's not a bug. You're right, though, there's plenty of the little buggers still out there...

I think I know all there is to know about loading troops on ships. I always take it slow. Nobody plays as anally as I play. I check everything. And then like the jolly old man I check it twice.

It is a bug, and it wasn't there in v1.4.

I've screenshots but I haven't bothered to post them yet. Maybe I will tonight if I can get my next move to Mogami out fast.

Anyway, this is the problem I think needs to be looked into:

Please pasternakski, don't egg him on.
You know TJ loves taking the podium.

I have to say, in all the turns I've played I've never seen this one.
What ARE you guys doing to your LCU's!

Lot's of sound and fury going had been going on in another thread about this. So far the mods keep saying (iirc) - "it's a replay bug" - despite the fact that UNLESS they are dropping torpedoes, they couldn't possibly damage the BBs they hit (and flooded), and also, they couldn't possibly carry torpedoes at the extended range the ships were hit at.
