Hi,

i'm starting a scenario 15 PBEM. My opponent is Jap. We follow the start procedure in the sticked thread of this forum.
Jap start and save and send to me.
I load his file, save and send to him.

Well, at this point he says me he see all the combat resolution as if he's allied and not Jap! He see all about me, about allied!
After combat resolution he go in order phase and take posses of his Jap army/units.

Is it normal ? Japplayer can see the combat resolution from an allied point of view ? ( he said that the background image of combat report are tipical allied combat report backgrounf )

Both players see the same replay...or they are supposed to.

Well, the same replay but from different point of view. We have fog of war ON but he says me he see all Allied units and he see his jap unit only when allied recon found them !

With 1.4 there was a bug that didnt allow both sides to see the same action.(ie Id watch my opponents ships get attacked in an air battle but not see what he did to mine)...I don't know if that has been taken care of with 1.5...

Nothing should be visible in the replay unless it has a detection value...not even your own stuff. Both players see the same replay.

May be him and me are both very very very newbie-ish....he says me he see also all my ground units, also unit in India, Cina, Australia.
May be we are wrong and we are "panicking" without a valid reason

Has he sent you the replay file so that you can watch it too? He can do that while he's working on his turn. It gives the Allied player something to look at while the IJN player wrestles with his decisions. Even if he waits to send you the replay file til his turn done, he should most certainly send you the replay file at some point. In this case, I'd suggest requesting that he send you his combatreport.txt file too.

If, after you view the replay file, it looks messed up, you should ask someone here to look at it for you. Mogami and Frag are usually willing to look at files like this. I'd be willing if you're really desperate, but I'm no expert on this game.

*Some* units are visible as pre-war intelligence knew roughly where things were. This fades away in a couple of days with no search/recon.

Hi to all, I am Darksky's opponent and I warn you that it's my first time with PEMB
Is the combat replay against IA different from PBEM one?
In my first turn PBEM combat replay I could not see my unit (I see them when they were spotted by Allied recon), and everything seemed to be from an Allied point of view (combat report graphics etc). I could see Allied units (units in Ledo, Sining etc) that normally, against IA, I could not see.
Is this behaviour correct?
Fog of war was ON.

PS
I've just reinstalled WITP + 1.5 patch, I'm sending a new turn now.

Bye

The combat replay you see against the AI and the one in PBEM are not the same beast. Against the AI, you will see all your own units. In PBEM, both players watch the *SAME* replay. That means you are supposed to send the replay along with the game turn to your opponent. Because you *both* are watching the *same* replay, neither sides units are shown unless they have been detected. At the start of the game, many units from both sides are considered detected. This will change over time. Only units that you continue to recon will remain visible.

This actually can give you some information about what your opponent has seen. For instance, if you see one of your TFs in the combat replay, then you know it has been detected. This is important if you were hoping for a surprise.
