Well, I was to the point of installing it but it wanted to install into its' own folder and not into my FB folder. When I get to the point of designating which folder to allow it to install to, do I let it install into C:\Matrix Games\Case Blue This is where it wants to go by default. Or do I change the folder to the path of my FB folder? I don't know if it needs to install into its' own folder first and then open that folder to drag and drop into or FB or not. I think it should install directly into my FB folder. Every other add-on I have purchased and installed does by default. But I thought I would ask first to make sure it is alright to change the install path to my FB folder. Please let me know. Thanks m8's!

Well I don't have Case Blue, so can only guess

are you doing the unzipping of the download ?, that will put it into it's own folder and then the install needs to be done from there

if it is the install after zipping, I am not sure, it should find FB by itself ?

Thanks for the reply m8. I have tested the waters before you replied and have foiund what you said to be true. Once it was installed in its' own folder, the installation process begins. Here is what I asked in another thread about Case Blue in the sticky at the top of the forum:

So which installation option do you use for FB/AEP/PF? I see three options. One has something to do with a patch for Forgotten Battles. Another has something to do with Forgotten Battles Expansion. And the last one is for AEP bonus Pack. So wich installation do I choose for an FB/AEP/PF installation? Thanks!

Now I know you have never installed Case Blue. But your best guess would be appreciated.

If I could have ever gotten a patch link to TLD, I'd be installing it now. But I can't seem to be able to get the m8's attention. I have even sent an email to tld@airwarfare.com and have never got a response. And since I had planned on getting both of these anyway, I figured I'd go ahead and get Case Blue and get it installed and hopefully by then, the m8 that can hook me up to a link of the TLD patch may be around to help a m8 out.

So, what's your best guess on the above issue Sarge? Thanks!

off hand if I remember right, Case Blue is a IL-2 FB addon

so would think the right way to go would be with AEP setting (so I think it is just looking to see if you have FB or if you have FB+AEP, having PF shouldn't have any thing to do with the install)

the bonus pak part throws me though ???? (hmm, the disk for AEP does say, ACE*Expansion Pack. so maybe that is where they are getting bonus pack)

(as a side note, always wondered where I got the idea it was called ACE instead of AEP, now I see why)

hope that works, still might want to do a copy of IL-2 first, just in case, but it is a hassle

HARD_Sarge

hmm I think I should get a job here

Thanks Sarge. I'll give it a shot. No worries though about making copies because Oleg has released the 4.0m patch as a public beta for FB/AEP/PF and I have had to make a couple of copies any way, so if it doesn't work with the FB/AEP/PF patched to 4.0m, I already have two more copies to work with. The only reason I went ahead and went with Case Blue was from a thread here in the forum where a m8 asked the question whether or not Case Blue would work with an FB/AEP/PF installation was told that it would work with all three, FB, or FB/AEP, or FB/AEP/PF. Then when I got to the point of actually allowing it to install, I got confused and had to ask the question(s) I have asked. And I appreciate you answering the best you can m8. When I know something for sure about how Case Blue installs in the FB/AEP/PF merged install, I will post back and let everybody here know that may have the same questions in the future.

BTW Sarge, I do understand about your comment on working here m8. I participate in our Tech forum answering 5 to 15 posts a day trying to help m8's run this game as well as they can with the rigs they have. But it something I enjoy doing. Thanks for the help m8. I truly appreciate it. Now, if I can get a link to the patch of TLD, I'd be set. Maybe the m8 will get around to checking his email or reading the forums sometime soon. No hurry though. It is summer time. He may be taking a vacation or something. This sim has plenty to do as is. I am actually interested in the online multiplayer coops to host for my squadron m8's than I am in any of the other missions or skins. Eh...and the offline single player campaigns look real interesting. Anyway, thanks again Sarge. I'll let it be known which way works so it may help some else in the future.

Thanks M8

hope it works

yea I got the "leaked" patch also

trying to drum up bussiness for the gang, with some of the shots I post, but think it may get confusing

hehe, some of the shots were a little ruff, as they had planes that are "not" in the game (nobody posted or said anything about the nose of the Ki-100 I had posted)

I'll see what I can see about the patch for TLDs, but if he not replying, it maybe his rig is down

Yea. I thought maybe he was. No worries and thanks for the update. Anyway, I told you I would post if I figured out which install buttons to use when installing Case Blue over FB/AEP/PF. Well, the first install to do is the one marked "Expansion". And afterwards, install the one called "AEP Bonus". It installed wonderfully, with no issues whatsoever over FB/AEP/PF patched to 4.0m. Thanks for the heads up and help Sarge!

Unbelieveable m8! And I am not exaggerating. Wow, where to start. An unreal amount of offline single player missions, over 400. Five or six offline German campaigns. An offline Russian campaign. Six folders of online multi-player coop missions, well over 400 of them. And even 32 online DF maps that actually cover nearly every map in the seires and even has mission objectives for each side. In another word AWESOME!!

Myself and a few squadmates flew the first mission in each online multiplayer coop folders. Each one was very detailed, mapped out very well, and winnable, but not easily winnable. You really have to follow the mission brief(s) and fly your best with team tactics to survive and win. And with the new FM and the new AI FMs', they were super, super fun.

Before I made any of the purchases of Case Blue, or TLD, I polled our m8's in the IL-2 Ubi General Discussion forum about which to purchase if a person was going to choose only one of them. Most of them there said to purchase TLD, not for the mission content, but more so for the new skins. Well, I have nearly 4GB's of skins already, so the extra skins wasn't a selling point to me. I wanted multi-player coop missions more than anything else. And after reading the information on both Case Blue and TLD, I went ahead and purchased both of them. But I installed Case Blue first because I am running BOE and I want to get the patch for TLD before I install it because the overview for TLD says there may be conflicts with BOE if it is installed without the patch. So Case Blue was installed first. And I am telling you, and anyone else that is reading this, it is AWESOME. I believe I have already said that didn't I. HEHEHE I am sure TLD is just as great and I can't wait until the m8 gets back from whereever he is and hooks me up with a link to the patch. But no doubt, Case Blue has an awesome array of missions. I am very happy, satisfied, and excited. Thanks for all your help Sarge.

Great, sounds like a Happy customer :)

I wish I liked the game for online play, but I don't really like the SA in it (too HARD to tell what is really going on around you)

but glad it works and you are happy with it

now tell all your friends and there friends, so we can make Matrix some money and get more stuff down the road :)

I'll post the link and a message in the GD forum and tell them how awesome it is m8. Plus, several of my squadmates are just as impressed. No problem. Everyone that loves this sim should have these addons, no doubt!

I have to agree with you fallblau is as good as the last days. Combat in TLD is overly challenging for me were as fallblau is very satisfying. The missions in blue are target rich and well scripted.
