Today saw more of the same. We advance in Malaya , China continues to be a problem. Our supply problem is not a problem actually , one of the advatanges of only attacking half as many bases as planned on day one is you have half the supply need

In any case a few convoy's are being loaded up to head out. The KB fails to annhilate a PT TF around PH that it spotted due to a misscommunication betweent he Escourt flight codinater and bombing captain. There was a lot of yelling and by the time the various captains got the whole mess sorted out the day was over. Zero's thought they where only supposed to escourt bombing runs going to PH , so the bombers refused to fly against the PT's without escourt. It was a lot of drama and nashing of teeth.

well the Captain of the SS Threaser is kicking himself, as he watches the kaga sail by his periscope with a full moon and a perfect shot, and both torps miss........ My little pt's squadrons continue to play cat and mouse with KB off pearl.... I have pushed the japs out of a small port city south of saigon and china once again has a port.... for now. His landing in davo looked painful as costal guns pound a couple of ap's and some msw.
his march towards singapore continues while my aussie and brit pilots score more hits on some ap's. their morale is about shot, and I think I will pull a few squadrons soon, some to help the dutch and some to help the defence of rangoon. His air attacks in burma have been devestaing keeping my planes down and morale low, im amazed that they even fly, you gotta love the brit pilots.....

The former land army commander for the China Expeditiary Army has shot himself. He could not face returing home after his disgracefully performence. A new commander has been put in his place and we hope to see some better results. He seemed better right off when he actually issued orders to many of the troops just laying around.

An amercian CV force is spotted heading twords Oz. It's way beyond being either usefull or attackable so we are just happy to know it's not in the PI. Another sucidal attack from the PT boat captains. We are guessing it was thier brothers or something on the ships that got hit on the 7th with the total disregard for intellegent combat they are displaying.

Just a probing attack. Actually this was the last straw for the former commander. After reading the reports from this battle is when he shared his thoughts with the wall....

dec 18th was a rather quite day. In malaya most of my Air crews had the day of to rest. In the phillipines, with the exception of the landings and attacks at davo, which will fall tommorrow I think, its been quite.

At pearl, My pt boats find the KB, and put a few rounds in to a few DD's, doubtful a 20MM did much damage, they did fire torps this time, but they miss. the dd Kasami sinks 2 pt's boats with single shots each.

China contiues to go well. we sneak in the back door at canton, while most of the army is attacking honk kong. at Yenan his probe is repulsed, with little casualties on either side.

Singapore is as ready as it can be for the battle that should start before christmas.

Major Naval Contact

Reports are just comming in that a night battle was just faught last night!! The famed Ryujo CVL force was engaged by a sizable allied naval fleet south of Davao. Contact was first made at 9,000 yards. The night sky lit ablaze as DD's traded shots. Outnumbered 2 to 1 did our noble fleet abandon the fight? NO !! The rumors of ancient samuri spirits guiding the Ryujo must have more merit then originally thought, the fleet closed the distance! Now the night sky is ablaze as both fleets main line ships start trading shots. Torpedo's go sailing threw the water some finding their allied targets. No matter what the allied tried the Ryujo remained masked behind her brilliant and darning escourt. Unsatisfied with only 1 enemy ships severly damaged our brave fleet closed the distance to 5,000 yards ! Now every ship in the fleets lit open. The supiror gunnery and naval prowess of our valient fleet was shown as while only reciving minor damage the allied DD Parrot was sunk , the CL Marblehead severly damaged along with numerous of their DD's.

All the while the Ryujo remained totally unscathed , her escorts having performed in true japanese fashion. In the morning later Ryujo's sister CVL TF launched missions against her assailents , landing a bomb on the CL De Ruyter. The pittifull attempt by the allies does nothing to stop Davao from falling today.

Elsewhere - in china we are struggling however many attacks are made along the front today and in many places the cowardly chinese fall back.

What a great naval action!. his carriers continue to live a charmed life, between this engagement, numerous air attacks, pt boat attacks, and one submarine attack, no damage!!!. I had been waiting for a chance to ambush his transport fleet at davo, an while I knew his carriers where close I thought it worth the risk. What are the chances his carrier fleet would move into my path on the way to the beaches of davo. to add insult to injury, davo falls the same day. despite the combat results, only one dd sunk, two others will be caught at first light as damage is to bad, and 1 is a drifting hulk which I should scuttle, but just maybe the oil slick an fires will attrack his two carriers attention to let the others withdraw.

China is the hot spot at the moment as attacks an counter attacks are going on in every area of the country.

He has arrived in george town much to the dismay of my aircrews who are ready to scattdaddle out, alas the bombing of the day before has every single plane left there on the damaged unable to fly list.

The first BB's maryland and west virginia arrive in frisco an go right to dry dock. I hope to have them back by october of '42, although this may be a bit optimistic.

My subs are starting to find targets, and even better hit them

The b-17c's on clarks field are having a field day on transports., damaging 3 yesterday and 1 confirmed sinking.

After an internal review Japan has finally decided to allow flight groups to
recive replancement planes . On top of that great advancement we are
even allowing some upgrades to start happening . Little did I know that
none of my fighter groups where getting replacements , but I feel accomplished
having figured that out as well as solving the mystery of how to upgrade planes

While the paper pushers continue to figure out the right way to hold pencils back
home , the fighting troops are working hard with what they have despire the oversights.
Today is more of the same from the past few days , the allied naval fleet has run in
fear after getting bloodied. Meanwhile KB makes it's slow lumbering way back twords
civilization.

We see the naval side of things dying down today after the creshendo 2 days ago. All eyes are in china as critical drama gets played out there. The chinese have moved to attack Canton , not to actually take it , merly to cut off the supply to the troops trying to finish off hong kong.

The rest of China trembles before the might of the newly invigorated IJA. Oh yea and some allied ships where sunk ... as usual.

Quite day at sea HA!! my tankers seem to attract jap subs and torpedoes. china is indeed the hot spot for land and air combat.
The plight of the DD Barker, ends, after a night engagement the night of the 18/19 1942 against a jap task force including a carrier, she was set adrift, trailing oil and burning, hoping to attract enough attention to let the rest of the task force escape. seems it worked, she is bombed the next morning, taking 4 more bombs from a flt of Kates, turrets wrecked, cant make any steam, she is scuttled..... flying boats from DEI land to pick up the few survivors left, the Captain went down with the ship.

Despite the heroic propaganda from the USA , thier ships continue to hide and cower ... well that is right up untill night fall when they drive out their speed boats to attack innocent supply shipping. We understand after the crushing defeat at sea they might be hesitent to fight but these cowardly tactics are simply an example of why we must fight the lazy corrupt allies.

The Chinese on the other hand, in true oriental spirit are bringing to fight to us. The whole country is awash in blood.

All eyes are defenitly on China today. Japanese forces make critical advances across the battle field. In Hong Kong another fort is destroyed. In the far north , Tanrok(sp?) we break the chinese siege. Our forces continue to mass for Yenen.

Today also saw a battle with almost 100,000 troops participating. In other places Malaya continues to succum to our irresistable march. Most naval action is down to sub/ASW from place to place. PI remains basicly bogged down , with the totally fumbled start in this area it's become hard to regain momentom.

CHina continues to be the most active area on the map. a more up to date map will be posted later.

Phillipines: with only a few landings and no movment in Northern part of the Island, troops continue to dig in around the Capital. Battan also is building forts.

Malaya: With georgtown gone, troops flee back towards singapore, for a last stand. Supply is great, and forts are strong both inside and outside of singapore

Rangoon: reports of a jap div within 60 miles of the city. Bombers sent to pound it.

rabaul/Port morseby continue to fortify, no activity at all.

central pacific: midway is strong, with wake having fallen on the 1st day. everything has been sent to midway. Pearl is starting to recover from the 3 days of attacks at the start of the war.

makin, tarawa, no enemy activity.

Australia: troop movments, supplys moving and digging in the order of the day.

India: plans being made as where to defend, anyone have a suggestion as where the best place to hold is?

Dec 24th, 1942. Christmas eve, Bing crosby playing in the background....... Not much in the way of activity today.

Manila. Bombings continue in the capitol today,, clark AF bombed again.

Honk Kong. A white Bed sheet is brought to the Generals office, Looks like a "white" christmas for the IJA tommorrow. Burning of important documents, with the exception of one that says "in the event the brits ever surrender, and retake Honk Kong, they will give it back to the chinese in 1999."

Singapore. Plenty of supply's Dutch transports fly in everyday. Trenches have been dug, and an orderly retreat here by most of the Units in malaya. This will be a long siege.

Rangoon: Drums!!! DRUMS IN THE NIGHT, They are coming............ FLy you fools......... fly.............

Rabaul........ Nadda.......... vera vera quite...........

Brisbane. Troops training, Awaiting Gen Mcarthur.

Pearl Harbour. Christmas party for the staff....... plenty of powdered egg nog to go around.

West coast. San fran Dockyards. Plenty of work here, as Ships arrive everyday. anyone need a job? welding experience required.

*** Position 41,40 ****

The situation on the ground was grim , out of supplies and dogged by a large Chinese division of over 10,000 troops. No way to escape. Today would be another day of Japanese blood spilts. Cornered , outnumbered and without supply there was no hope....

...Then over the radio a faint single came threw "Achi Ich , this is relief TF XXX , please relay cordinates where you want fire directed"... Aparently they had not been forgotten. Cordinates of enemy position (within spitting distance) where relayed out. A silenece filled the air , everyone in ear shot of the raido tent stopped and waited , it was almost sareal.

About 5 minutes later a loud series of thunderous booms where heard behind them out from the direction of the sea. What seemed like an enternety passed and then in front of them in the middle of the Chinese lines all hell broke loose. To say the Chinese where caught off guard would not be fair , because no one could catch them considering how far into the air they wehre flung. The pounding continued all morning. Hundred of Chinese meet their fate.

The gave a half hearted charge again at the Japanese soldiers later in the day but with moral boosted from the display of raw Japanese naval power and the knowledge they where not forgotten the lines held , and held well.

Hong Kong should fall soon , which will free up those troops to help elsewhere in China. The rest of the front in China is a seesaw match of attacks and counter attacks and manuvor. Malaya the allies run for Singapore. In the PI the crazy amercans seem to be trying to go on the offensive. While deep down I can't blame them considering how our invasion there was ... well not up to par would be a nice way of saying it , it will do them no good.

Dec 28th 1942

Hong Kong continues to hold, Not sure who is more suprised, me or Artic.

Philipines I think is a problem for him, His intial landings didnt execute on dec 7th, and its been a problem ever since. Ive started local counter attacks to disrupt him as much as I can. Wont be long until he lands near Naga to put more pressure on Mac and the boys.

China Is like the Russian front was for the germans ( or will be once the germans attack). I doubt many of his troops would prefer China to a jungle outpost. did the Japs have a Sgt Schultz type? perhaps I will email the fox network, anyone have a title I can suggest?

Central, southwest, and south pacific...... just crickets...........

Rangoon is under tHe gun now. Dont think it will hold for long.

DEI: mass exoudous of ships. I am not withdrawing troops here as some do. We intend to hold as much of the DEI as can be done with the limited troops we have.

Malaya: see attached map

The large air raids in singapore where called off yesterday. We where no longer killing enough enemy planes to justify the damage to the airfield we intend to capture My pilots enjoyed a nice day off to celebrate their fallen brethren whom died in the glorious service of the emperor.

PI - the starting errors there are being fixed as we speak.

China - Hong Kong somehow manages to hang on in spite of the nearing month long siege. The battle for Yenen is beginning. Eslewhere the front is stalled neither side gaining an upper hand.

Ragoon - Will fall shortly.

Various landings where made today to furthur our aims in PI and Borneo. Most of our large reinforcements to the PI have made it ashore in Aparii and Laong under cover of some rough weather. In Chine the foolish chinese get themselves slaughtered in Canton trying to attack us (over 3,000 chinese dead). Yenen is likly not to hold for very long and Hong Kong shold fall "soon" , or at least I keep telling myself that.

.... .... .... All ships at sea, this Punni-San on Pearl Harbor Radio...

I would like to make sure that the boys from the 14th Tank Reg, make sure to wear their Life perservers, because that ship they are sailing on, the Nissen Marau #2 is very old and leaky. when you get to the Phillipines boys, if you make it, Make sure to have your salt tablets, as I hear you will be having a hot reception, and on the way there, Dont be alarmed if you see a eyeglass poking out of the sea...., and while your boarding, enjoy this oldie, but goodie........ We take over more bases. The allied dogs attack our AP's with subs and fighters. Aparently we have not schooled our escort Destroyer captains well enough in the art of sub hunting. In Malaya they have been herded into Singapore and two bases just north of it. Troops in northern PI have started marching / rolling.

In other news due to a misscommunication todays bombing raids on Manila the Zero escort failed to apear , the result was not pretty.

New years eve finds 1Lt. Frank Hubble 24Fighter squadron, sitting in the bombed out remains of the Officers club in manila. Having drank the last bottle of scotch in the city with the rest of his sqaudron, they head out to the flight line to put up 18 P40e's mostly patched, and some without full load of gas. It shouldnt matter its just a short hop to day, flying cover over the AF. As he reached their alt of 17,000 feet set for today is a suprise for tojo.. the last 3 days nobody came up to challenge tojo's bombing runs, today, we fight!. Control calls over the radio, 48 boggies heading in. They search and search, but cant locate them, till his wing man call out Up there, 12 O'clock High. they pull the stick back and climb and climb, but they watch in disgust, as the the Lilly's are bombing from over 30,000 feet, to high for this peice of junk to get . As they start to circle back down, the radio crackles again. 80 Boggies, 20,000 feet vector 010.. good luck....... As they circle back down from their lofty height, they see 80 bettys in perfect formation, almost if on parade. And the suprise in tact, no Zero's!!!.. when the battle is over, Lt Hubble, is 1 kill short of being the 1st American ace of the war. His bag today, 4 Bettys, and the rest of the 24th did well to, 15 Betty's and the lost of 1 P40E.......... Now if there was only more scotch to celebrate the ringing in of New years day, 1942.

Today finds the allied PT boats sallying out to do battle It is plainly apparent the amercians are inncapable of fighting us like men in the daylight. They resort to either subs or night raids with suicidal PT boat squads.

The Chinese are starting to lose ground. Today they pulled out of Canton , aparently they did not appreciate my Navy's gifts to them. Also the fabled "force Z" apeared in Ragoon to bombard our troops there , not that it will do them any good.

Today a large air battle was faught over clark field. Our glorious airforce destroyed many enemy planes. The brave men trapped for weeks now behind enemy lines in china refused to board the ship. They said that if a China expedition unit did not relive them they would die where they stood. The partroopers where thankfully more resonable and boarded the trasports.
