STATE OF THE WAR-MONTH RESUME

Southwest Pacific Front
-With the fall of Port Moresby last month, the allies base a lot of air groups in that base after the necesary reparations. First arrive the 49th FG with their new planes, the P38G. Some days after the VMF-221 from Townsville and last the 12th BG with B-25J in anti shipping missions. However, the japanese defeated troops reach Buna and the following days transport those troops to Lae, inclosed some air support units from IJA and IJN. In consequence the japanese airstrip at Lae receive many daitais of fighters from Truk, Rabaul and Wewak.
-The allies try to damage Lae and launch many air strikes from Cooktown with B-24D but the air losses are very high.
-The air war rises day by day and the allied air attacks from P.Moresby against Buna and Lae, besides the japanese air attacks from those bases against P.Moresby provoke heavy losses to both sides. In the dogfights, however, the japanese are the winners in most combats. The allied groups are yet some green.

South Pacific Front
-With the allies without a single CV operational (the only is Yorktown repair heavy damage on PH) and the japanese CVs upgrade systems and planes on Truk and Tokyo, the activity in this zone was very sparse in June.
-The japanese form some convoys to supply forward bases like Lunga, Tarawa and Vella Lavella without allied intervention. By your side, the allies transport a huge number of air groups, troops and material to Noumea, Townsville and PH, waiting the CVs reinforcement.

Burma/India Front
-In spite the japanese are in great number (around 200.000 troops) in the Calcutta front, the british and indian troops, with their fortifications reduced to zero, resist against the odds the massive japanese offensives with air support.

STATE OF THE WAR-MONTH RESUME

Southwest Pacific Front
-With the allies in force at P.Moresby and the nipons on Lae this month have a strong air war between those bases. The allies launch attacks against Buna and Lae with your B-25J with the escort of P-38G and the new arrived F4U-1 (VMF-221). The main objetive of this attacks is japanese shipping suply lines to Lae. The japanese by your side try to evacuate the troops from Buna to Lae. The losses in both sides are high, the 49th FG change your experience level from 56 to 75 in a few weeks. The japanese traslate from Truk a new Daitai of Ki-44 to Lae but the plane show a desmay perfomance against the allied fighters.
-The allied heavy bombers also lauch attacks against Lae from Cooktown with the Liberators but the damage on airstrip is very light.

South/Central Pacific Front
-Finally the allies receive the fast carriers and the CV Yorktown seems to be operational again next month.
-In Pearl Harbor, the allies form a huge carrier group with the new CVs Bunker Hill, Saratoga and Lexington, the CVLs Princeton, Belleau Wood, Cowpens, Monterey and Cabot from the Langley class and three CVEs. The carrier group, commanded by VADM Towers, is send to attack Wake island to training crews and pilots.

Burma/India Front
-With the front in calm, the japanese maintain your positions in Calcutta waiting the inminent arrival of two anothers infantry divisions send to Chandpur from Rangoon. The allies only attacks are against Asansol and Chandpur airstrips and defensive positions with the fighter bombers and the japanese answer is sporadic counterstrikes with Ki-49 and G4M1.

STATE OF THE WAR-MONTH RESUME

Southwest Pacific Front
-The air war increases and increases level in New Guinea front. The allies have now three hundreds of planes based at Port Moresby, mainly B-17E and fighters and the airstrikes against Lae and Buna cause heavy damage to nipons. The losses in fighters are very heavy in both sides but the japanese counterstrikes over Port Moresby are fruitless.
-The last days of august a allied surface force evacuate the 2nd marines division from P.Moresby to Noumea, in advance to prepare future operations against the Solomons. A allied carrier force protect the transport. This force fight a strange carrier battle south Solomons the 30th and 31th when a carrier japanese force apears near Lunga. BB North Carolina, CV Bunker Hill and CVL Cowpens are damaged, the japanese planes support heavy losses in those attacks but the allies get bad weather and do not attack the japanese carriers.

South/Central Pacific Front
-The japanese take the Baker atoll the 4th. The island was totally undefended in this moment and the japanese disembark three naval units that take without problems the base. A carrier force with three CV and three CVLs protect the operation.

Burma/India Front
-Finally, the japanese 233.000 men take Calcutta the 26th and the allies must retire to D.Harbor and Jamshepur. Is a major victory to nipons but the cost in supplies and fuel was critical. The japanese send at once four infantry divisions to Asansol to force the allies to withdrawn to Benares.

STATE OF THE WAR-MONTH RESUME-WAR DIARY

Japanese Home Front
The japanese aircraft production of Nakajima engines collapses. The demand is too big and the planes production of Zeros and Ki-49 is seriously decreased. The operations with Ki-49 types is suspended in Burma and Southwest Pacific fronts.

Southwest Pacific Front
-9/1: Japanese air attack against P.Moresby, one allied AP sunk. A-20G allied attack Buna airstrip. Liberators based at Darwin bombard Kendari oil facilities.
-9/2: The new japanese air attack against P.Moresby suffers apalling losses with no results. The japanese attack the base with 75 planes and 34 are shot down by CAP or Flak.
-9/3: The allies launch devastating air attacks against Lae from P.Moresby and Cooktown. Dozens of japanese planes are destroyed on field, the base is temporaly closed.
-9/4: The allies bombard for first time Rabaul from P.Moresby. The attack is carried by B17E from 5th, 19th and 93rd BG.
-9/25: The 5th Australian division is transported from Thursday island to Darwin.

South/Central Pacific Front
-9/1: Allied carriers return to Noumea and Japanese Rengo Kantai to Truk. The 2nd USMC division rest in Noumea at safe.
-9/2: BB North Carolina control flood damage and return to Noumea.
-9/11: A allied carrier force with four CVs attack japanese air bases in solomon islands. The first attack targets Munda airstrip and encounters minimal resistence.
-9/13: The allied carrier force bombard Lunga base. Many japanese planes are again destroyed on field and the japanese resistence is fruitless; 131 bombers with a escort of 62 fighters only suffer the loss of two Wildcats and two Dauntless. The japanese losses are 33 planes and the airstrip is almost destroyed. Late this day the B17E from Luganville finish the job.

Burma/India Front
-9/1: Allied air attack against japanese shipping near Chandpur.
-9/11: The japanese launch a attack in Asansol front but was a total failure.

[Note: Game upgraded to 1.6]

please keep up this great AAR - I really like the way your Head to head seems to have avoided much "bias" one way or the other.
