NOTE for the Admins: can you please create Poll?

Hi all,

How many of you would convert to WitP v1.602 BETA from "regular" v1.60?

WitP v1.602 BETA

1) A bug was causing ship captains to vanish. Fixed.
2) The 10" CD gun (device #516) was not being produced. Fixed.
3) Land units ordered to follow were not arriving in proper hex at proper time. Fixed.
4) Allied heavy bombers were using device #210, 2000 lb AP bombs, instead of device #205, 2000 lb GP bombs. Fixed.

Leo "Apollo11"

P.S.
Since it is summer (and time of vacation) 2By3/Matrix would certainly have well deserved time off so new "official" patch might me far off. And add to this that our hero Mike Wood would soon have other programming duties to perform...

I'll update to 1.602. But, not until I start a new game. Probably in a month or so. I'm waiting for Andrew's updates to his map.

This seems pretty simple - if I'm testing the beta patch I have to convert at least one of my installs ( I'd convert my stock test install ). But If I'm not testing the beta patch I don't convert any of my installs. I since I keep my test installs separate from my "production" installs, either way I would not impact ongoing games. I only upgrade installs with ongoing games in them, after an official release ( i.e. I don't test in production ! ).

Use v1.602 and started a new game as Japan - first time I play the Jap side long enough to capture Singapore - before v1.602 I always gave up after two weeks of game time due to ghost units and such. Haven#t seen any of this under v1.602 so far (march 42).)

It's not *just* a beta, it also has a critical fix in it.

So, is it an official release yet?

I've got two installs, one with 1.602 which I would prefer to use (disappearing units is a big bug IMO, and with the river/shock attack rules, I like to use follow orders). My other install is at 1.60 because it is in a game where not everyone wants to use 1.602.

Already upgraded mine. Had to get rid of a ghost. It worked. Now my partner on the other hand still has one. Will see if it clears up this turn.

Havent really thought about upgrading it, I'm perfectly happy with 1.6 kicking some Jap tail.

I play v1.602 and I think it is great that Matrix/2by3 allowed us to use it (many thanks to Mike Wood - our resident WitP hero )!

BTW, the v1.602 is EXE only (i.e. no data files are chnaged)...

I haven't as yet but I intend too after running it by my PBEM opponents. I have had too many instances of warping units and it is close to finishing one of my PBEM

Hi
if you don't use 1.602 in place of 1.6, then make sure that you don't use the "All follow" or "All march" movement order.
If you do, there is a chance that you might end up losing the lead unit.

This was the major reason for this patch.

Indeedy. Why I plan to upgrade (at least when I can get to the patch screen without it not finding the URL). Using the follow command is important in a lot of cases IMO.

Regards,

Steven
