This will hopefully document Allied changes at least to an extent.
If my fellow CHSers who did at least half of the Allied air changes
feel like commenting/correcting, jump in, otherwise i am hoping to keep this free of comments so CHS users can easily see changes.

Hopefully Don or Andrew will grab this stuff and attach it to Andrew's website readmes or whatever.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

The Sea Gladiator was removed as it was not in use in the Pacific while the Sea Hurricane was
added.

The Seafire has been split into 2 aircraft, a version for '42-'43 and a version for '44-'45.
Obviously you can do what you want in your own game but the Implacables fighters should stay Seafires
as Corsairs and Hellcats were too big to operate.

The F2A American version Buffalo has been split to the F2A2 and the F2A3. The F2A2 is on some carriers at game start but is not in production. The F2A3 is available for Marine units. The F2A2
is maneuverable, fast, but unarmoured. The F2A3 is armoured but otherwise junk.

The F4F3 has had it's armour removed. This was contraversial but i stand by it. The Last two sqds
of F4F3s di have field armour kits added but that slowed the planes down quite a bit and basically made them F4F4s with 2 less MGs. I like showing the difference in aircraft performance not the similarities.

All F4Fs have had their mnvr value dropped as part of my campaign to make land based air useful.

F6Fs have had their durability increased but their mnvr value lowered by 1. The F6F mostly won battles through numbers, toughness, armament, and pilot training not maneuverability.
And the plane was huge, something like the second largest single engine fighter of the war.

I modded the mnvr values of the F4U Corsairs a bit. There is now the F4U4 late war fighter so the F4U1 is now slightly less competent to bring it more in line with real world numbers.
The production numbers of F4U corsairs has dropped per plane type but don't panic because the F4U4
makes up for it.

SBD Dauntless production has dropped a bit to bring numbers in line with reality.
SB2C Helldivers are arriving starting in January '43. This is not perfect because the first Helldivers were not very good aircraft, but there were a lot of even the first model Helldiver built and they were used on Essex and Intrepid in '43. If i had a spare slot i would probably split Helldivers into an early and a late model but Ron had to have his Ryan Fireballs!

Albacores have been added to the British Torpedo bomber inventory.
Pretty much a Swordfish.

PBY Catalina production has been lowered a bit to make numbers match better.

Most of the Dutch and pre war British aircraft have had their production halted as these aircraft were not in production at this time.

Boomerang 2 production has been dropped a bit as there were 10x as many being built in Scn 15 as should be built.

All of the P36/Hawk/Mowhawk models have been modded to show correct armament, endurance, speed,
mnvr, and armour.

Brewster 339D/Buffalo I have been modded for speed, armour, mnvr, and armament.

Hurricane IIb has been added from game start for Britain. This is the fighter version, jungle mod with 8 MGs. It should be about the best allied fighter till the Spitfire and P38 show up in numbers.

The Martin 139 has a bit smaller of a bomb load and shorter range. Honestly, i think the range should even be shorter. The listed range with 1000lb bomb load is 750 miles.

Beaufighter VIC is now in correct configuration. It has no wing MGs but has a rear MG. It has longer range than the VIF.
The Beaufighter 21 is arriving a bit later in the game now. It is also in more correct numbers.
We had a great deal of discussion about this aircraft and this is the best we can do without adding two more variants.
The Mk21 also has the correct wing armament of .50cal Browning MGs not .303s.

The Beaufort V-VIII is now produced in correct numbers.

The Ventura V is now unarmoured. It had integral wing tanks, unsealed and no armour other than a bullet proof windscreen. When used in a bomber role it suffered very heavy losses.

The Mosquito bomber version now shows up in eraly '45.

The P400 max altitude is 14,000ft. They did not have a working oxygen system.

We added the P38E/F a game start in small numbers. I do not think this was a good idea.

The P47C is a fighter while the P47D is a fighter bomber. The range reflects this. The P47N has been added.

The A20B is now available in very small numbers with correct armament and no armour

The lightweight P51H has been added. Really fast, really flimsy.

The B26B has the correct forward Pacific armament scheme now.

The F7F Tigercat has been addded.

The P43A Lancer has been added. Used early by a couple of American squadrons and later by the Nationalist Chinese. Predecessor to the P47.

The P66 Vanguard has been added. Ditto on the notes for the P43.

The F8F1 Bearcat has been added. Many people will be dissapointed as it is not that good. The later model Bearcats were awesome but the model 1 was not that exciting. Sorry.

The FR1 Ryan Fireball carrier bomber has been added. Just for Ron. They were used operationally
on one escort carrier during the war.

Heavy bombers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

On all heavy bombers we have lowered the anti naval bomb load so HBs are not quite so deadly in naval
attacks.

The Liberator VI has been split to a Liberator III and a Liberator VI.

The Lancaster has been added to late war British production.

The B17 production numbers were fixed to make them accurate.
The B17 bombloads are a bit smaller to more accurately represent the aircraft.

The LB30 production numbers have been drastically cut and the range and max altitude adjusted.
the B24D armament has been reduced. The B24D production has been reduced to accurate numbers.

Yes it is on my list - I will add it to the CHS documentation.

Andrew
