Is it possible to upgrade to 1.6 in mid-pbem game and have optional upgrade paths? If so, please describe how. I have applied 1.6 and its effects to the pbem game, but the option to toggle player defined upgrades is greyed out.

Help! Thanks.

You can patch, but the optional paths will not be available unless you restart a new game.

I don't believe that is true. I am playing a game started back in January and have the upgrade paths available.

There's two possibilities here, Potsy. I believe that you either need to go into game preferences (or whichever page has it) and toggle on "allow user defined upgrades" or you need to toggle on the "upgrade allowed" switch on the unit in question. Until you do the latter, you will not have any upgrades available.

the option in the preferences section is greyed out- if I toggle it before I load the game that does nothing as well. I have heard of people updating pbem games, so someone must know...

Oops - I just noticed that you mentioned PBEM games. I have no experience there...my comment was incorrect in that it pertains to AI games Sorry. Could it be that it needs to be the Japanese player (something of the host player in a PBEM game) who chooses this, or did they prevent this from being changed in a PBEM game at all.

Hi
when playing PBEM, the switch is only available to be toggled when a new scenario is started. It is then locked in that position for the rest of that PBEM game's life.

If upgrading while playing an existing PBEM game, the default position for this toggle is NO user upgrade. It cannot be changed.
