So I am really enjoying the patch. In single player mode the AI is doing a really good job in detailed combat, and not too bad at the strategic level. But since I want to play against another person in detailed combat I tried multiplayer mode on my lan. I started up the game and setup my destop as the server and connected with my laptop. Then I set the players are France and Austria and took the default scenario, so I could get to a battle quickly. I moved the armies for France and pressed the end of turn button. I got the screen that showed that France had finished their turn. Then I did the Austrian army moves and pressed end of turn. The computer started thinking (it says this for each nation as it does it's turn. All the thinking finished then I got a CTD on the laptop, with a memory exception error (windows 2000 professional sp4). Then on my desktop I got the dreaded Plato MFC error (windows XP home edition sp2). Ok, maybe I did something wrong in the setup, so I started again and did the army moves pressed end of turn, watched the computer think and then watch the same memory error happen on the laptop, and the Plato MFC error on the desktop. I then restarted both machines and tried again. This time I moved nothing just ended the turn, and again memory error on the laptop and Plato MFC on the desktop. I tried again this morning and without fail I get the same results. For what it is worth I have never gotten an error playing multiplayer on my LAN until this patch. In fact I have had a total of two Plato MFC errors the whole time I have played the game. So I was really surprised to see that I can, at least with this patch, not play multiplayer. Can someone else try Multi-player so that we can validate it is not my machines? Thanks for the otherwise great game.
