Two immediately come to mind: (1) the Panzer I, with those infantry-killing MGs. (2) the Sdkfz 10/4 20mm Flak Wagens. These are very effective light-tank killers with their phenomenal accuracy. Of course, the drawback is their lack of protection. For 1939-40, they serve well as "shoot-and -scoot" weapons platforms. I always have four of these in my German long-campaign core force.

In real life ... it's probably the radio equipped command halftrack. All the better to call in the Stukas with, my dear!

In the Spwaw game itself it's the PzIII's! The German's early war workhorse armed with first the 37mm, then 50mm, then Long 50mm PAK. At least until Allied M3Lee's, T-34's, and KV-1's up the ante ...

I still don't get why people like the Panzer I so much; if you want two machineguns, buy an armoured car.

The Pz Ib there gun cuts infantry to pieces up to 500 yards. Not much armor but is fast. Can decimate a company of infantry in no time.

Not realistic to have many but I love Flame Panzer 2s. I am playing MCLV and I love seeing these in my line up as they are the only tank that can take out the dreaded KVs. 88s are also a welcome sight.

Aside from them I would go with the Panzer III (H) for the 50 mm gun.

Well, for me, the most valuable is the PzIIc and always in my core.
I'll take the extra armor (PzII) over fire control and speed (Psw231).
That, and the PzII is size 2, compared the Sdk231's size 3.

I'll use either Sdk222/231 or PzI as (auxilliary) late-game units,
for chasing down and destroying routed infantry. I'm leaning toward
the PzI in that role because they can carry a recon patrol.

I use (auxiliary) Sdk10/4's during delay/defends as my reactionary force.
With their high fire control they plugs the gaps where needed.

While tanks, like infantry have a definate place and purpose on the battlefield,
it's the PzII (for me) that's doing all the "work."

An armored recon unit is invaluable when playing with C&C on.

The thing about about the twin 7.92mm TMGs on the Pz I is that it has a higher accuracy and HE kill than the US 50 cal M2-HB! This is why the Pz I is so good at cutting down infantry.

As for the SdKfz 10/4, its 20mm Flak38 has TWICE the accuracy of the 20mm gun on the PzII. No wonder it's so effective against opposing light tanks.

Very early war I'd have to give a vote for the Pzjg1 - that 47mm ATG on the Pz1 chassis will penetrate most armour that your 37mm wont.

It's fragile like the SdKfz 10/4 mentioned above, but invaluable.

Pz1 MGs are excellent vs infantry though.

The German Pz-IIc could work out miracles.

Just few days ago I lost a couple of my waltzing Matildas to their fire. The light German tank drove next to my tank and opened fire. Matilda was blown into pieces.

My Long campaign as a Brit started in a worst possible way. I had chosen all my core troops Canadians and all of my infantry was wiped out in the first battle at Cambrai. I had purchased some British tanks, for Canucks only had Mk VI's and they were not much of use.

Well, I guess it's good to get a sound beating sometimes. IT WAS A HAVOC. Only infantry that survived was an engineer squad, whose leader was sgt. Eisenstein - I gave one leader a Jewish name and IT survived. Funny really.
