Hi,

I am curious... I captured Sasebo and Nagasaki from the computer AI. I noticed that the industries are producing japanese planes. How do I switch them over to producing Allied planes?

When the Allies capture a Jap aircraft factory it should convert to vehicle factory.
Captured Jap naval and merchant ship yards are converted to repair ship yards. (I don't know if it is 1-to-1 basis.
And captured HI is halved each time it changes hands.

The only thing that does not change is engine factories. Make sure to shut them off so they do not suck up resources producing or repairing.

so if the japs recapture these places do they just end up with a bunch of vehicle factories or do they turn back to their original industries

It should give you an option to 'Halt' them.

Hi Feurer Krieng,

I think I figure it out.. change the engine factories to manufacture something else and all factories will be damaged.. and then set repair status to no..

Shouldn't the factories be converted to making congradulatory cigars at that point? If you are capturing factories on the Home Islands, the game is far enough along that is effectively over for Japan.

Hi Burzmali,

I am playing against AI and it is now Oct 43 and I captured Nagasaki, Sasebo and Kitakyushu.. I have 43,000 versus AI 19,000 points. I did not go the Japan the "traditional way" from Buna to the Philippines. I went from Tarawa to Okinawa via Julait, Eniwetok, Wake, Marcus, Iwo and bypassing all other Japanese bases. The AI tried to strong point certain islands.. Kwajalien, Bonin, I simply bypass them. At the rate, I would need 3 to 4 more Japanese cities before I get 3:1 ratio to see the victory page

Place some bombers in the bases you have captured and start City bombing mianland Japan. This will give you the points in a hurry. Much easier than thrying to take the home islands.

What difficult level are you playing at? I want to start my first game as allied but if the AI is so weak it's a waste of time...

I recommend playing the AI at it's hardest setting. Do that for awhile to get the hang of the game then start a PBEM. You'll never go back to the AI.

I have been playing the AI on Very Hard and sometimes it can surprise you. But it will not react like a human would. So if you attack the Home islands it might not send the KB to wax you. I have not tried a PBEM yet but its not to far away that I will be looking.

It's best to play the AI in a "historical" game. It tends to react better to you when you stick to a historical schedule.

I know PBEM, I have two PBEM running with Japan. I want to try the Allies and I thought that a game vs AI would be fine just for practice. But if IA is so weak, maybe it's better finding a novice jap to start another PBEM.
When I'll be back from vacation I'll think about it

Bye

Hi invernomuto,

I am playing at Very Hard. I started this some 5 weeks ago with 1.6. No reruns.. that is no turns are repeated.. don't like cheating the computer.. but having been beaten by the computer AI 6 times previously with its death star KB, I am very cautious this time by massing my carriers and strengthing my fighter cover to cover my advances.Cheers

Hi Mike Solli,

you are absolutely right.. PBEM is the way to go.. The computer AI does not defend the Home Islands very well.. when one city is attacked, it does not reinforce it. If only it defends each city with 3 infantry divisions.. the human player would face hellCheers

If you don't want to cheat against the Computer, never plan anything head. Make one plan at the beginning of the game and never take any other action that take more than 1 turn to execute. For example, sending the KB to 1 hex outside the range of an enemy base, having it meet a refuelling TF, then dashing towards the base to sink the unsuspecting ships in port is something the AI can't fathom, hence using such a strategy against the AI is unfair.

Hi Burzmali,

I agree. Playing agianst AI is not much challenging. Soon I will try PBEM. I just need some time to sort things out.
