Find an friendly unit on List all ground units (G) that shares a hex location with enemy LCU's.
Click on location
The let the mouse hover over the units icons in the bottom of the screen.

Result:
The exact configuration of each of the enemy units is displayed.

continued...
Then click on one of the unit icons in the bottom and you will see Disruption, Fatigue, Supplies etc etc.
Please don't do this in PBeM's that will really ruin anyones day

Hi all,

Is FoW (Fog of War) ON or OFF?

I see that you are using AB's map/scenario - does this work with original WitP as well?

FOW is DEFINATELY on!!!
Don't know if it works with the standrad scenarios, but my guess is that indeed they do. It is a bug in the program, not the database.

Ya know? Without some form of caption, etc to aid these screenies, I'm not sure I see the problem. Understand the perception is certainly outta whack, but I've NEVER run across this. Don't get me wrong I'm not against digging up a lil exploit once in a while (I know, I'm a gamey bugger), but I've never seen this.

Can you perhaps draw to what/where you see it? I'm just not following it... Though I have to wonder if the problem isn't in the CHS mod rather then in WiTP proper.

Just my .02.

Hi 2stepper

The problem is that I as a Japanese player can see excactly what the allies has on a contestet base.. (I have not tried it out on any contestet hex... yet)

I tried to fire up an ordinary scenario.. the 1944 one.
There the "problem" is the same.

BUT it is only for the Japanes side. If you were to start a PBeM game and view Torokina as the allies, then the unit icons at the bottom of the scren is the correct ones. (Torokina is the only one that I saw that had a contested base).
SO who need the almost unusable Japanese intelligence screen, when all you need to do is to contest a hex, in order to gain full intelligence about the enemy troops there?

I have verified this bug as well in a standard scenario 15 PBEM.

The Japanese player can get exact unit information on a cotested base. Disruption, fatigue, moral, assault value, supply, you name it.

You can avoid it by not looking... but if it is out there people will always suspect it is being used. It should be fixed if you ask me.

Only works for Japan?!

Ha! Proof that Matrix is a bunch of Nippon Fanboys! It's a conspiracy! A conspiracy I say!

I am of course kidding.

They should definately see if they can put it into that v1.62 beta patch though, or whatever they're calling it. Seems like it would potentially be a -significant- problem.

I just tried to recreate this with stock scenario 13 and 15 in PBEM as well as vs the AI. Nada. Don't know what the deal is, but I almost suspect its got something to do with CHS. Though lord knows what that might be.

I tried it with a stock 15 and it is exactly as he describes it. Japanese can see SOME of the stats of every unit in the hex. The key is to ignore the COLOR of the icons atthe bottom. They look Japanese, but when you click on them they are the Allied units.

This is NOT good.

See, something isn't right. I did that. Nothing. I float the mouse... nothing. I click on them... nothing. I'm not doubting the potential problem, just that it doesn't appear to affect me in any way, shape or form. And THAT is baffling.

Are you using a PBEM?

My procedure:

1. Set scen 15 non historical PBEM
2. Japanese stand down all a/c (to speed things up) and end turn
3. Allies stand down all a/c and end turn
4. Japan looks at Hong Kong, Khota Bharu, and Wake (all invaded on first turn)

At every one of these three contested locations, the mouseover shows the name of the Allied units and clicking on them displays the Allied Units (without strength details but with supply, disruption, fatuge, load cost, etc)

Note that the Chinese city of Nanchung starts the scenario contested. It does NOT exhibit this bug.

Which was actually my suspicion. I'm still 1.60. Unmodified (except graphicss) so no databases, etc have been changed. I'm thinking its either CHS related (aka mod) or its the 1.602 beta.

Just a thought tho.

I am using 1.60 with out any modification and I can duplicate this exactly as described. Both in a new game and in an ongoing PBEM.

Not sure why you can not duplicate it 2stepper but it is not a CHS problem.

Can the Japanese player give orders to Allied units ? Like get out of here, or hey you, cross this river and attack alone 3 Jap Div... boom!!!

There was a similar bug in UV (but applying to both sides IIRC). Choose an unit and give it as destination an enemy base that is on another island. The message 'move impossible' or something like that appeared as usual and then you are in the enemy base screen (or the enemy unit screen) and you can give orders to enemy units.

This is getting serious by the post. And it is ver 1.6. Now it is up to individual players to honour their boy scout oath ... no cheating. I think some 99% would not cheat. The small advantages and victories would be ephemeral and unhonourable. Totally unworthy of the Bushido code

I am perplexed as to why no one from Matrix has commented on this. Derfel, have you had contact with Frag or anyone?

The question I would like answered is (a) how long players have known about this problem? and (b) why is only now it is being reported?

It is a "bad" cheat, I can't see how it could have been fixed previously without someone reporting it as a problem.

I myself have not come across it in the last 10 months of play, but now I know how I can "cheat" using this bug.

Michael

Hi Mantill

No I haven't had any contact with any one from Matrix.
I would hope that they read all in here, as it IS here bugs are to be reportet. All I did was find the bug, please don't shoot the messenger

I found out about this bug, when I was "hunting" for my Japanese panzer regiments. Having found them I clicked on the bottom of the screen, and was shocked to se them empty of any materiel. Then it dawned upon me, that what it really was I was looking at:
Not my own units but that of my PBem opponent ZekeNY and that was just BAD

The question is how how come this bug haven't been exhumed as it also appeared in UV
I am quirious that this bug haven't ben reported before, as it only took me about 1 month of playing to stumble upon it.

Happy gaming

Hi all

My hope was with the "turorial" that would be easy for the programmer to see where the bug was, not as a cheat!

Also it might be good to kick start them into releasing a 1.603

Take care
