I couldn't find anything on this with search, though my internet is being a little dodgy. I'm trying to unload a B17 unit from an AK at a base, but the thing doesn't seem to want to unload.

I'm wondering if it needs a specific port level or something in order to unload them?

Well, there DOES have to be an AIRFIELD there (and a port 1 or better, i think).

Also, in the event that something weird has happened, the bombers have to be in an unrestricted command (i.e. CenPac, SWPac, etc.) Rarely the game will allow you to load planes from a restricted command onto a ship (it should allow this, but sometimes does).

Make sure your task force isn't set to "DO NOT UNLOAD".

Strangely enough, the problem was that the unit had no planes or pilots in it, though they're now winging their way towards the base as a sub unit.

Beats the hell out of me, I didn't even realise until I checked the unit to see if I'd somehow loaded a group attached to the West Coast command. Sadly, I think I've over written the saved turn in which I loaded the unit. I guess it's just one of those odd things, heh.

I'm happy I've still got the unit, albeit split into several sub units. Though it's something of a frustration having to wait even longer to haul the planes and pilots across the Pacific.

IIRC, someone had the same issue. I don't think you could unload a "0" size unit.
I can't see why not but apparently it is hard for the cranes to pick up the phantom planes.
