Couldn't find anything in the rules but how do you treat firing on other units.

1. Do you anounce it, check LOS and if LOS is blocked forfeit the use of opportunity fire. Ready for another shot.

Or.

2. Do you anounce it, check LOS and if LOS is blocked place a fire counter on the unit and wait for another turn. Bad luck.

I find the 2-nd one the better option but I was wondering how other deal with this.

Per definition, you are allowed to check LOS without penalties all the time.

Something I personally prefer.
Anyways - both ways can be 'odd'.
Way 1 - you play with a guy who checks all important LOSs before he moves 1 hex;
Way 2 - you play with someone, who learned the maps by heart.
For the first I can suggest - don't play with her anymore. For the second - at least experienced, but not more fun.

Sorry, should have said 'prefered option'.

Its just that checking LOS before moving or each time an enemy unit moves to a new hex feels a bid strange to me, it takes away a bid of tension in the game for me. Probably 'ASL heritage' or somthing.

And that is something, what someone who has a life and just want to enjoy a game doesn't do anyways - seriously: never had a game... and had some on Virtual Lock'N Load with different peoples, who started with 'every hex checks'. You do that when in doubt and that is not as often, as it might seem.
