Hey, Devil-Dog! Is that Naples bug still going on in the upgrade you're beta-testing?

Not sure, which part are you asking about ?

I in the middle of fighting Naples for it right now, but my game is on hold till the next update

Spain had it, I attacked it, Spain, liberated it, and now I DOW and am wearing them down

there are still some Provinces that are shaky for some reason, but Eric is trying to nail them down

The new behavior in 1.2 we're experimenting with for multi-provinced minors is to have the capital of the minor country move to a new territory upon liberation of part of the multi-provinced minor.

Let me give an example: Austria starts with a protectorate over the minor country Veneto. Veneto owns two provinces, Venetia and Illyria. Say Austria surrenders to France and France forces Austria to liberate Illyria. The new behavior is that Illyria becomes an independent province under Veneto. The province of Venetia becomes conquered by Austria. The capital of the country Veneto moves from now-conquered Venetia to the now-independent province of Illyria.

This new behavior seems to solve many of the old issues involving Illyria/Venetia; though we haven't been able to test every case, so far it seems to be a vast improvement over the former behavior.

Well, Corfu is not the smaller province in the game: it is larger than Gibraltar. It changed hands many times at this time: from Venitian to French in 1997, Russian between 1799 and 1807, French again till 1814, then British, and it finally became part of Greece in 1864.

Bavaria is another one that is giving trouble. Once somebody else has them as a protectorate, I can't gain control over one province. It's a different one each time: Kleves, Berg, Nuremburg. The only way for me to get them all is to either gain them as a protectorate, or to coup them very early.

If I fail at the coup, I'm forever stuck with somebody else in Prussianized Germany. Bavaria must have a huge anti-Prussia modifier. I just never have enough cash to bribe them into loving me.

Depends on the scenario. By the 1805 scenario the Russians owned Corfu.

Here's the history of Corfu under Venetian hegemony:
http://www.corfuweb.gr/gb-history6.htm

And a bit about the Russian invasion of Corfu in 1799:
http://www.neva.ru/EXPO96/book/chap6-1.html

The article mentions a treaty to allow the Russians to use the Dardanelles. This was one of COG's treaty clause ideas that didn't make the final cut.

One rule I've always wanted to add is to give a combat bonus to a nation during a naval action if that nation controls a port adjacent to the sea zone containing the naval action. This would make controlling places like Malta and Corfu even more useful.

They are already super useful because of the harsh sea supply rules. God forbid you need to ship some units from Gibraltar to Egypt and you don't hold any ports in-between.

Roger on the time line Eric

I normally play with the 1792 War, so I am used to seeing it another way

hmmm, sort of like the Port idea, but would make the English Channel nasty

maybe a sliding scale, for the bonus, depending on how large the port is ?

I mean, I believe France and England would both share the same sea zone, so both would get the bonus, but if one of them owned the Dutch port, then that would give a extra bonus

I like it, I like it

LOL I think you see how my mind works
