Greetings,

Well, to get into the game, I thought I would try the Allies first (trust me, once I am trained up, Japan all the way). Anyway, I have a problem. Whenever I want to move say a unit (say a Dutch unit from the Dutch East Indies to Malaya or American troops in the Philippines, even Australian units), I gather my transports (AK's and AP's) and go to the port their at. They are there, sometimes docked, but when I come to load the units, there name isn't there. Sometimes I only get a HQ unit, mostly nothing. This game is in December 1941, middle and I really want to evacuate some US troops, not to mention move some Australian units to Port Moresby. Just how can I do this? I can do this say for the USMC in the Mariana Island scenario but just not here. Any suggestions? They look all fully loaded to me.

Some units may belong to restricted HQ's and so cannot be loaded until the political points are paid to convert them...

Certain commands are restricted commands, The two you mention are both restricted. ABDA and AFFE. You can only move them by ship or aircraft after you pay Political points to change their command to a non restricted command.

Other allied restricted commands are

Australia
New Zealand
Canada
West Coast

Japanese restricted commands are

Home defense
Kwangtung
China Command

Aircraft in these commands also can not fly to airbases not in their command.

Okay then, thanks for telling me. But also, I have another question. Just how do you change from restricted command to none restricted command?

Click on the "attached to Command xxx HQ" icon that you find in the upper left corner of the unit screen. Then, if you have enough Ppoints you can change its command HQ, otherwise the words will be written in grey that means you can not change it

There are 3 Bns of Australians assigned to SW Pacific as well as a base force. More arrive over time , the 30th Brigade arrives fairly early it is assigned to SW Pac.

Unfortunately one BN ( lark I believe) is in Rabuel, unless you send transport on day one, they probably will die on that Island. The other 2 BNs are in Darwin.

Against the computer I send one Bn to Port Morsby and keep the other for use in DEI. I dont save the BN at Rabuel ( though I should)leaving it there means the fight for Rabuel lasts a while.

I sent the 30th to Gili Gili and after american base forces arrived I sent the Australian base force to Gili Gili also.

I activate 2 Cav units, a Brigade and a Division. They both go to Darwin. I send the Brigade to west Timor and keep the Divisio in Darwin.

I rescue 2 base forces from the Philippines early one on or near Tawi Tawi and one on Mendano. I also disband the small p40 fighter squadron in the PI and eventually get all but one flying boat squadron out, the large P-40 Group going to DEI and eventually to Darwin. The small B17 group going to Darwin and the large one to SE Asia. I send the fighters on to SE Asia also. The Fly Boat unit goes to SE Asia also.

In time, if Manila holds long enough I use submarines to evac a piece of Asiatic Fleet Hqs ( change to SW Pac) and send it to Darwin. Much later if Bataan holds long enough I pull a piece of one PI Division, one PI scout RCT and the cavalry unit out. No useing wasting avaialble replacements. I also try later to get out a piece of the bases trapped at Bataan. these actions are only taken in April and depend on if Bataan held that long.

I move several Dutch base units to Timor and Kei Island and I move several ground units ( Dutch) from unimprtant bases to Timor.

All these actions take PP and you dont have a lot so are done over time as you can. One last advice, send at least one Dutch recon squadron ( flying the longer legged recon plane) to SE Asia and 2 or more to Australia. The allies are critically short of recon squadrons. I send one to SE Asia and 2 to Australia. I disband 2 more and that only leaves one to die in DEI. Plan ahead the longer legged one can get to SE Asia if you move soon enough and can get to Australia also.
