Oops,

This is almost certainly a CHS issue ... as we "borrowed" a old ANZAC HQ to become the new India HQ ...

Is there any HQ on New Britain where these India troops are appearing ? If not then it may somehow be a "hardcoded" issue .. but if there is an HQ there .. which one !!! Exactly what is in the hex where the Indian troops are appearing ... thanks.

Hmmm. I didn't think we were using the CHS, but I could be wrong.
I will have to ask Lew. To be fair, I think they all entered the undead state at the same time during the evacuation of Malaya, though I am not sure about this. This is not correct..see Tom's answer.

It is the 44th Indian Brigade (they really do still have a British Officer..I made that part up) I believe their Southern Hemisphere portal was at hex 59,89 on a jungle trail. At the time I believe Lark Force Bn (SWPac), NVGR Bn (Aus), N0. 101 RAAF BF (SWPAc) and No 102 RAN BF (SWPac) were in the same hex. No HQ on the Island.

Well if you're not playing CHS then it can't be a CHS issue !!! ( whew !! )

And if there is no HQ in the location where the fragments are appearing .. then next guess would be "database scrambled" issue ...

I think there may be some kind of baseball connection to the teleportation destination hex. 59,89 is more like 60,90 because the first numbered hex in each sequence is zero instead of 1. 60=(numbers of players on a side-number of outs in an inning)*10 and 90=(number of innings *10). But where does the 10 come? That had me stumped for a while but I think it is the total number of players that participate either offensively or defnesively in a National League game (Counting the DH)...or it could be just how many dollars you need for a 24oz beer at Dodger Stadium.

The first turn they unloaded at Akayb they vanished, and we found them stacked with the survivors of the Rabaul Garrison one hex NE of Gasmata.

Ah, yes. I see you guys have run into the WiTP implementation of the mysterious Akyab Experiment. It was a little known predecessor to the Philadelpia Experiment.

Your theory about baseball might be correct. Is it just a 'coincidence' that the transport originated at Diamond Harbor?

Sir;

Attached is an aerial recon photo of the apparent nexus of the New Britain Incident. An American expatriot coffee grower, a certain Ray Kinsella from Kansas has hacked out a baseball field out of the mohagany and ficus trees. He claims the Indians have been walking out of the forrest in white knickers, many with cricket bats. He has fallen unde some suspicion as he has a small dog name "Toto", which does bear an alrming resemblance to "Tojo"

The way you converted a bug to a great "legend of war" is awesome!
It reminds me the "angels of Mons" from WWI...

Just great guys....this AAR is a MUST!

Scene: Communications hut, Port Moresby, Feb 28, 1942

Radio Operator: "Sir, message received, codename 'Milo'. Its from our recon team on the Kokoda Trail. Codename 'Milo' is not in the book but here is the message. It was broadcast in the clear."

OOD: "The God Damned radio discipline around here is just shot to Hell. Alright, let's here it"

Radio Operator: "Yes sir. It reads...Milo, we found a possible new species of the genus Epiblastia right off the Kokoda Track in the valley you suggested. It is a beautful creamy white with yellow stamens. We have four in our possesion now. Still searching. It is bloody hot out here. We are going to want more than your original offer for new finds. Returning soon"

OOD: "That's it?"

Radio Operator: "Yes sir. Transmission ended. Do you know what Epiblastia is sir? I just tried to sound it out. I'm not sure of the spelling"

OOD: "I'm not sure son, but it may be one of the Japanese knee mortars. Very odd paint scheme though, white and yellow. That just doesnt seem practical in the jungle. I wonder if it was diverted from Manchuria and hasnt been repainted yet."

Radio Operator: "Manchuria sir?"

OOD: "Yes, Manchuria, son. It snows there you know"

Radio Operator: "Ah, I see sir"

OOD: "Right, in any event it sounds like they have some PW's....and it sounds almost like someone has promised them a reward of some kind. I am going to have to look that up in the Army Field Manual. I am not sure that is permitted. While I am working on that, get this over to G2"

Radio Operator: "Will do sir, right away"

I'm curious. Have you found a bunch of these kinds of orders? I'm thinking back to the historical role-play you guys did earlier involving Australia's policies at the time, for example.

witpqs;

Some of the material, especially the pre-Pearl Harbor stuff are verbatim transcirpts of written or spoken orders of historical figures (ie., Sec Stinson's diary, orders to Kimmel and Short before Pearl Harbor, Churchill's orders to Wavell), some are fictional comments from historical figures with fidelity to their historical roles (ie. Ghormely and Halsey, Wavell, etc), some are actual photocopies from period documents (the Bolivian tin mine for eg. and some of the correspondence to the Australian Government...these from the on-line FDR library and the Official Australian war history website). Some are recreations of historical events where the participants are not known to me (fight over overtime on Singapore fortifications)

Of course, as the "game" progresses, we will likely diverge from the historical outcome (for eg...the fall of Singapore was about right temporally, but 50,000 troops didnt get away ) Even so, you have to admit the gane designers and testers have got this remarkably right. Fantastic wargame. Cheers!

And some are purely fictional...for eg. Maj Legree who achieved some fame in a civilian role some 90 years earlier.

This photo of HMS Glasgow firing on a Japanese merchant ship off Tobolai was taken on the night of March 3, 1942. 3 Japanese ships were sunk and the rest scattered, Allied forces returned to Batavia unharmed.
