At the depot, I wrote two sentences that were intended to be tongue-in-cheek and a friendly farewell to the thread. Anyone with half an ounce of humor would recognize it for what it was. There was zero intent to insult anyone. Just to make sure everybody would recognize the humor and tongue-in-cheek intent, I included a smiley. With that, there's really no excuse for anyone taking it as an insult or anything more than a friendly gibe. Or so I thought.

I was hit with a horrendous personal attack. Then after I explained the humorous intent of the sentences, I was hit with another personal attack. I don't know if the person involved has a lot of stress at work, or has pms, or who knows? But he has no sense of humor whatever.

Well I thought that two personal attacks in a row, for nothing, was a bit overboard and responded in kind (with no smiley). And got banned. I guess admins over there take care of their own. Or none of them have a sense of humor. Or whatever.

Take a look at the depot. The last several posts under the Over There thread.

And btw, I hold no rancor toward Goblin or other depot admins. They did what they felt was the right thing. Too bad it wasn't. Oh well.

I agree. But I felt it needed to be aired publicly and I couldn't do it at the depot. Any further discussion will be private.

Fortunately, I hold enough rancor for everyone.

(I had no idea I'd get two uses out of this joke.)

Rich, maybe you should consider not using phrases like "typical liberal response" and (about leftist protestors) "They don't care since they think America is a terrible country anyway." That kind of generalized statements are very insulting, because you're informing the very people you are discussing with about what they think, even though the statements are obviously false.

Uh, I can understand that if you don't live in this country you may not know what's going on so I'll make allowances. But you have several things in your post that are incorrect. For example, there is a typical liberal response to many things. Also, the far left in this country is pretty much anti-American. They root for the enemy. Does anyone remember "ho ho ho chi minh"?

The statements aren't "obviously false." That is an obviously false statement.
