Bang goes Ferece Puskus 'the Galloping Major' then

I really have no idea what this sentence means :) I'm not a native speaker in English :)

"Bang goes that idea" eg a Silly suggestion or an incorrect idea sort of thing.

Ferece Puskus 'the Galloping Major' famous Hungarian footballer led the hungarian team that slaughtered England " with Puskas as captain, beat England 6-3 in 1953 - becoming the first foreign team ever to win at Wembley. The return match in Budapest provided even greater humiliation for England with Hungary winning 7-1."
