I know this is porobaly not on the cards, but I have to ask.

What are the chances of getting this to be a multiplayer game? With all the different factions, wouldn't it be great to win as say Siam? I know it requires a huge rework, but the groundwork is already there.

Just asking...sorry if this was dealt with in WITP forums. I didn't see the thread there easily. WPO seems more like a multiplayer sort of venue anyway.

WPO is at its heart a PBEM game (with strong AI play), and IMO is better able to have teams than did WitP. For instance, given the clear divisions of forces, 1 player could be the US, 1 the Brits, 1 the Australians and New Zealanders, 1 the Chinese, and 1 the French/Siamese. It would definately prove interesting, especially with "cannot attack unless attacked" house rules. Early on, against a combined force, Japan does have a very good (though not 100% equal) adversary. However, if the Allies are played by different people, with a more divided nature, then it could be very interesting.

Perhaps more in line with your question, it is not possible to play as any single nation. However, given the way the VPs are done, it is possible to play PBEM with restrictions, such as British/ANZAC vs Japan only, leaving the US out of the game.

Well this sounds promising. With the empire building of the era I was hoping for something like China vs Japan vs France vs US vs Britain vs the Dutch vs ANZACs vs Siam. The game would be very interesting with a diplomatic overlay.

I've got no idea of how things are coded, but it seems to me that a module could be put over the engine to handle some diplomatic interactions. Just an idea.

It's not a bad idea, but it's not possible at all with the WitP engine; you'd have to do it with a multi-participant PBEM and a buttload of house rules.
