did a pdf search and came up empty. am playing allies solomons campign and have 3 CVEs in noumea. of course all my CVs are being repaired (or collecting barnacles) but LBA just beat up the kb death star. but i digress.

i have a carrier-capable SBD unit on each of the CVEs and running ASW patrols just off noumea. will this turn carrier-capable units into carrier-trained units?

OT loved the OKW (oberkommando der Wifen) comment in another post.

Carrier-trained are only groups which start out on ships. This is one reason why it is not a good idea to swap around groups on CVs.

You can't train a carrier-capable into a carrier-trained.

Carrier capable DO NOT train up to Carrier trained!
Basing a 'carrier capable' unit on a CV will cause higher Op losses - the pilots have not been trained to land on a small moving airstrip .

Don't worry about it. All that will happen is higher ops losses.

The joy of playing the Allies is that you have plenty of replacement planes and pilots. If a carrier capable plane flown by a non carrier trained pilot goes into the drink there are 20 more of each waiting to replace him.

That is one thing about arm-chair generals...just keep throwing troops at enemy. There are plenty of resources to build new ones.

[Must admit sometimes, I do same thing...just a a few more units and I will conquer that city.]

Sounds like a certain Austrian former corporal and a city that was formerly known as Tsaritsyn...we know the result of having monomania.

This from a Marine?. I thought that Marines were just a form of ammunition waiting to be expended.

I find it very easy to send digital troops off to their death. IRL I am much more careful with the people assigned to me.

I think of it as a Darwinian system to weed out the poor pilots. The good ones will gain experience and the poor ones will be replaced by new inexperienced one. Thus goes the circe of life.

With grunts maybe...but with pilots, it's "that's an expensive plane!!!"
