I could be from a mistake, game loop hole or just plain out smarted. I'm just curious from all those people out there so I don't feel like much of a fool anymore!

I sent the bulk of the Chinese army towards Kaifeng in order to draw the IJA towards me. It works and most of the IJA divisions come running. Well I mis-calculate the speed of my opponent. With 59/60 miles marched, my opponent takes the crossroads and now over 100,000k chinese troops are surrounded and will soon be exterminated. I would go into a rant about how the ground combat model is broken, but what's the point. Ultimately, I shouldn't have sent them all :(

So whats your worst moment in game?

I just lost my first two CVs to Mogami...I tried to catch him off guard and he slapped me.

Winning a carrier battle, then getting too close to LBA afterward:
"Mogami v DadMan: The Wonder Years" 15FEB42

Using slow BBs on long distance bombardment missions out of CAP range one too many times:
"Mogami v DadMan: The Wonder Years- " 31MAR42

Getting both early RN CVs chewed up by gettng too cute and running through a base hex:
"Mogami v DadMan: The Wonder Years- " 27MAY42

I'm overdue for another brain fart soon...

Wow, now I don't feel so bad. After all I can re-grow the 100k+ chinese soldiers, right? Man this reminds me how I lost the Enterprise. I saw 2 CA's hanging around Noumea(sp?) and sent her to intercept. Well low and behold those CAs we escorts for 2 IJN CVs. Since this is 1941, I got spanked without a chance at a return strike. I hate it when those JPN carriers get tricky like that.

When my Naval search finds a CA...I assume it is a CV.

When you go out with the entire KB in dec 42, you miss the button and set some zeros on Naval attack with 0 CAP, some other escort with no CAP, some other Escort CAP but forgot to change the range ( that remains 0) and at the same time you leave your Vals on training

You could guess from my avatar the result of this idiocy

And everything because of a damned stupid girl that was screaming on the phone "YOU ARE IMMATURE!!!! ALMOST 30 AND KEEP PLAYING VIDEO GAMES!!!!"

Watching my already heavily damaged Zuikaku and Shokaku get sent to the bottom because my overly aggressive TF commander ignored my ordered to withdraw and reacted to a superior carrier force near Andamann Island.

Setting up a major air attack and forgetting to check the range setting of the escorts.

Forgeting to move a sub in a 2day game after Speedy sends one of his tiresome APD ASW TF's after it. (it gives him entirely too much glee factor when he finally succeeds in hitting one after turn upon turn of frustration)

Here's one...

Late March 1942 (SCEN 15). Playing as Allies and running reinforcements to Wake as it didn't fall early to IJN invasion.

As the landing force is fairly sizable I sent my Yorktown class CV's (all 3 of them) along as escort.

Little did I know in the turn prior to the debacle my opponent has not one (duped into thinking this), but his 4 heaviest CV's in tow with this OWN invasion fleet to take the island at last.

Result? 3 uncordinated strikes against his Flattops (couple bombs and minor damage) for me against him... He hits me with over 200 bombers (Vals and Kates) and blows all three of my York class boats out of the water.

I was SO appalled at what seemed like a gaff of sorts on the computer and found that it was made worse that he outfoxed me. Only sent one CV of planes to raid Wake on the thought that I MIGHT be out there.

I was, and suffice to say WITP has been on hold a while till I cool down. LOL!

Suffice to say that was flippin tragic for me and an exhuberant victory for him.

Hi, OK pay attention. Most of my disasters have their root in an error I have made many times (right from UV to present WITP)

Have multiple TF at sea with them assigned to follow a TF.

Example 1. (Happened against Dadman)
3 Transport TF loaded with troops heading to make opposed landing. Surface TF following one of the transport TF. Decided to combine transport TF and same turn I made a new TF in Tokyo for another mission.

Next turn enemy surface TF engages my transports who are without major fleet unit protection. Surface TF is discovered on orders phase heading for Tokyo to follow new TF.

Example 2 (happened against Svient) Carriers in 3 TF are covering landing on New Caladonia. CV and transports are waiting outside LBA range for bombardment missions and LBA from Luganville to close Noumea before actually moving in. Combine and form new TF in Luganville. result. 1 Carrier TF has fighters set to cover a TF in Luganville (not in hex where CV and transports are located should have been 2x27ac Daitai 1x28ac Daitai and 2x18 ac Daitai or 118xA6M2 on CAP over my ships. Other CV are set to escort or stood down from fatigue.

Last but deadly factor TF now move towards new TF at Luganville and enter range of Noumea.

A lot of WITP is harder then herding cats

mine was loosing for carriers in two days. Two upon the initial attack and two more limping back. That was depressing

Losing 4 CVLs off Malaya in one turn to the Royal Navy in Iron Storm. The Sea Hurricanes tore up my Zeroes!

Then the next day, Hyuga and Ise strayed into Beaufort range and sunk.. NOT smooth, very not smooth.

Hi, That was one of my favorite ambushes ever. I was playing around Kiska and Dadman sent his old BB. So I sent another transport group to play around somemore and also a few CV set to slow speed. Dadman spotted the transports but I had them retire and moved the CV to the location. Dadmans Patrol reported a TF there at slow speed and out came the old BB.

And I thought the ringing in my ears was a bad case of tinitus, but no, it was the din of the friggin' ALARM BELLS THAT I WAS IGNORING.

Oh well, it only cost me 3 old BBs...

First:The "alibi"
Being generally "old", and working 60+ hours a week to feed the wolf, and having to check these threads (to see what new things have been done/said), leaves me fairly tired before I can actually play the game.
Now:The "tragedy"
After the "DeathStar" crippled 2 of my big flat-tops, I failed to assign them to new (2 hex-away friendly ports), for repairs, and watched the "DeathStar" finish them off the next turn.................................

Being over confident is also a gor way the get some of yout fleet sunk.
12 dec.41, after taking wake i sent a surface tf to midway to bombard the place to kingdom come.

Forget all about air cover and run into his cv's ,
no need to give details about the result i think

This reminds me of the time that my CVE TF (5CVEs with escorting DDs) escorting an invasion fleet sees the KB and dashes off at full speed to intercept it. Lesson learned. When you have a CVE TF on an escort mission set the Max React range to zero.

Having to stop due to bugs or moving and not having my PC with WITP online. and respectively. Both reasons have killed a long running and enjoyable game (1st vs 2ndACR and 2nd vs Mogami).
